My car got STOLEN!!!!!!!
#41
Sorry to hear your bad news. I know exactly how you are feeling, I had a Toyota Celica stolen from me a month after I bought it. At the time I was in college and can't afford insurance, damn bastards! I hope my LoJack pays off when they steal my car this time!

Maybe your signatures are working against you in regards to theft. I mean, there's probabally a million TL's in LA or NY, but in a smaller town, it may be eaiser to hunt down a specific car with $$$$ in mods.
People put down all sorts of info about where they drive, stores they visit, and even where they work.
Car thieves may be monitoring this forum also.
Just a thought.

Sorry to hear about the inconvenience!
If someone would like to come steal mine and make it dissapear forever I would be pretty psyched! I have got my eye on several cars right now!

Since no one has answered you on the time period, insurers wait 30 days and if you're car is not recovered and the insurance company cannot prove you're involved, they must pay the actual cash value of you're car, or origional cost if you have the limited waiver of depreciation endorsement, if it is within the specified period, which is usually 2 years. If the car is recovered and repairable, the insurer repairs the car @ you're shop, or if damages exceed the actual cash value, the above sinerio is applied. BTW, I am an adjuster. Used to do a lot of stolen vehicles. A word of wisdom, always be upfront and forthright with the insurer, as lying is a great way of discrediting you're character, and can delay settlement.

Sorry to hear that. Hope all works out with your insurance. I really think they towed it. The immoblilizer is tuff to go around almost not worth the time and money needed to do it. The TL 2000 alarm is really loud but if it didn't go off then that would be an easy tow. Again hope everything works out for you.

That blows!!!! Dude, do you own the car free and clear or do you have to make payments, if so hopefully your bank or lease company will allow you to stop payments or something for now. Are they going to give you a rental atleast?

Unfortunately your stuck with however long your insurance company wants to wait before considering your car a total loss (due to the fact it's unrecoverable). Usually that's a few weeks to a month depending on your insurance company.
As for a rental, again, it's not up to your bank. If you purchased that coverage on your insurance policy, then that's where it would be taken care of. If you didn't buy the coverage, then unfortunately you're out of luck.
You just have to pray that your car is recovered soon and either:
1. It was just kids joyriding and your car is pretty much intact
2. Your car is stripped to the point that there's no doubt it's a total.
Based on the fact that they got passed the alarm and the immobilizer, I doubt it's 1 and it's most likely going to be 2.
Hopefully they find it soon so you can get on your way to settling it.
Hope your luck changes, I feel for you.

Talk to your adjuster about this, unless of course the insurer is taking the position you are involved in this theft, and if so, they must have a good reason.

Things like your wheels, bodykit, spoiler, etc should be covered no problem since they are mounted on the car.
As for you sound system, OEM is always covered, but for after market stuff, the rule of thumb is that it it's permanently mounted it's covered up to up certain $$.
As for your lights, I'm only guessing, but I'm not feeling real good about it.
Again it all depends, sorry I couldn't be more specific. Pictures will help your case.
