I know I'm not telling most of you anything you don't already know, but the sound of this engine in the VTEC range is intoxicating!

I turned over 750 "easy-does-it" miles on the black beauty yesterday, so last evening before it got dark, I decided to give her a little workout. I went to a little used street not far away that's about a mile-long dead end, with only two side streets and full sight distance from one end to the other.

OK. A/C off . . . VSA off . . . D5 (didn't trust myself yet to be watching the tach in SS) . . . road clear . . . and YEEEE HAAAWWW! This thing freakin' wails! What a sound! Nice strong pull all the way to redline (I did manage to glance at the tach long enough to see - and feel - it snap off the 2-3 shift right at 6800 rpm). I don't think I ever hit 4th, but oh lordy . . . 1-3 sure is a rush! So much so that I made two more runs.

While this isn't the fastest car I've driven or owned, it's plenty quick, and nothin' else did it like this, in leather-wrapped luxury with buttery smoothness. Oh, and did I mention the sound?

I'm lovin' this car.

Now that you have started to enjoy the thrill of VTEC, get on the highway, put it in SS mode and keep that tach between 5,000 and 7,000 RPM in 2nd and 3rd gear and really get high!
