Question MSRP MYSTERY??????

Why is it that the TLS is being advertised in Motor Trend, a brochure is out, the car is being shipped and/or built, yet no Acura dealer knows the price??? is this normal or just like it sounds, SHADY!!

It does sound a little shady. Several months before the IS300 came out, Lexus was advertising the car online, in print, and in television ads-- ALL showing the base MSRP. What does Acura have to hide?? I have 2 theories-- one good and one bad.

1) Acura is jacking up the price and wants to build the hype and interest before it comes out. Myself, as well as many others I'm sure, are set on getting the TL-s when it comes out. Showing the price off the bat might have scared many away from the thought of purhasing the TL-S.

2) Acura is keeping the price low. Could be they want to clear out all of the 2001's before they release the price of the 2002. Why buy the 2001 when you can get the 2002 for the same MSRP and all the extra goodies (6 disk, mem seats, fogs, etc)?

Just a couple thoughts....

Dealerships around the town have been having problems getting rid of the '01 TLs. I guess the publicity of the '02 hurts that.

About dealers having problems moving 01 TLs, my wife and I went to one here in NJ yesterday to see about getting a hot deal on an 01 because of the imminent arrival of the 02 TLs. Well, no such luck. In fact, the purchase price (about $28,000) and monthly lease payment of $399 were driven up by the stated reason (by the dealer) that the residual value of the car is less now than what it was when the 01 first came out. Whether that's true, or not, it precluded us from entering into a deal on an 01, forcing (I say with a grin) us to wait for the 02.

Oh, the tough breaks in life.

Tag66, number 2 appears to be the case. See original post by Comp-Time.
