Mpg?

I just purchased a used 03 TL-S. Does anyone have typical MPG that I can expect? I have filled up twice and got about 320 miles each time till empty. Is this the norm? That is only about 21 mpg according to the 15 gallons I've put in each time. Thanks to all who answer...

it all depends on your driving, and driving style. Is it aggressive? is it all hwy? Most will envy your 320 to a tank.

I do a mixture of city and hwy and usually get around 300-350 to a tank and im an aggressive driver (with a TL-P) all hwy i have gotten 450+ on a few occasions

I drove my TL-P aggressively the last tank in 150% city and I had to get more gas at 348 miles. I do 400+ consistently with a 60/40 highway/city mix.

You mean the full tank (17gal) or you mean until the light turns on, which is about 14gal? If you do 400+ w/ 60/40 when the light turns on, that's pretty good.

The light comes on at about 405 for 60/40 highway/city and about 330 100% city.

The highest MPG recorded for my TL-P was 38.7mpg (on a 75 mile trip). I know there will be people tell me it's a miscalculation or whatever, but Ken1997TL managed almost the same thing in his 03 TL-P by driving the same way.

This thread: Here Post Number 30. Ignore the title of 30.27mpg.

03 TL-S driving about 80% city, I get anywhere from 270-290 miles until the gas light comes on. Fill up is about 14 gallons so my usual gas mileage is a crappy 19-20 mpg; the highest I've gotten I think is just north of 22 mpg. Can't wait to take my TL-S on a roadtrip just to remember what 25+ mpg felt like lol. My Integra before this car got 30+ mpg driving hard in the city...that's about the only thing I miss though; well, that and the manual tranny. I guess that's the price you pay for 260 horses.

I know its possible. Ive gotten 32.something at 90 on my last trip to FL. and have gotten in the 35's at lower speeds.

The "secrets" are the following:

Drive under 70 mph

Keep your speed consistent

Don't put on heavy 17 or 18 inch wheels

Dont put on sticky tires (you want high mileage tires for good fuel economy)

Make sure your air filter and fuel filter are clean.

Check your EGR valve and clean it.

Sticky tires are probably the #2 killer for gas mileage out there..

Its all about rolling resistance.

Filled up my 99 TL today. 349 miles on this tank=25+ miles per gallen doing combined city/highway miles. Usually what I average. Only got 27 in my Accord 4 banger, so I'm quite happy. Most of my driving is not on the highway. I've been good not to rev it high. Conservative driving now that gas cost an arm and a leg. Well, 2 legs to be exact.

I drive mostly below 3000rpm. I changed to different size tire 225-55-16 for 2000miles already and I lost 2-4mpg. Oh well, I guess it's safer (sticky tire). And yes, I put 38psi for front and 36psi for rear.

I'm usually around 300 miles when the lite goes on and run it another 30 miles or so before filling up with around 15-16 gallons.....would like to drain it down a bit more but don't want to run out. Getting 23-25mpg on 50/50 driving....closer to 30mpg on all hwy driving.

My TL-P is consistently as good or better than my 99 Accord four-cylinder was.

I drive like a Saudi Arabian prince with no concern for oil, and I get about 20-22 on average, and high 20's on the highway. '03 S, I/H/P/Spacers

As we roll into winter you should see a decreas due to winter formulas in the fuel. You have to remember, each tank may not be the same from week to week even if you take the exact same route. There may be slight variations in weater and driving, and traffic that would cause it
