more horse pwr

Hey guys first time here,i just bought a 2003 type s and i am very happy with it,just wondering if those aftermarket air systems are really worth any horse pw or is it just as good throwing in a k-n airfilter into the stock box?Im trying to find out if there is aftermarket computers for these cars or chips that can be replaced?Been reading some posts and it seems alot of guys are going with headers. How well does the stock exust do with headers? Please guys need some help im new to this import thing been driveing 87 grandnational for 10 years and its all i really know. Another question do these cars like more fuel pressure? Hope someone can help? Thanks.

A CAI will get you more HP then a K&N.

CAI will give you about 6-8hp
K&N drop-in maybe 1-2hp

Headers are very popular b/c of the huge increase in HP. Comptech headers get you around 28-32hp at the wheel, OBX headers around 30-34hp at the wheel (both dynoed).

The stock exhaust is very freeflowing. So much so that almost all aftermarket exhausts available are only axle-back, as replacing the rest is useless. You can expect to see 1-3hp from replacing the exhaust.

There are no chips for our car. Well, Jetchip does make one.. but of the 3 people I know of who bought it... 2 dynoed no gains and one lost power. So not worth it. AEM is developing a piggyback system for the CPU which will net about 15-20hp or so.. but it's expected to sell for around $1700 or so.....

Hope that helps!

No problem

Any other questions.... just ask !

FYI on the Supercharger... you're looking around $3800 shipped for about 50hp at the wheel (boost is 3.5 or so from Comptech. I'm sure you can change that with a pulley swap).

As far as I know, any aftermarket part could potentially void the warranty. But that's only for parts that are "downstream" from the guilty part. So headers could potentially void the warranty for the rest of the engine, i.e. cylinders, valves, etc, and possibly other things as well. But they wouldn't void the warranty for, say, the arm rest, which has been pissing me off recently cause it keeps popping up :P. But you get the point.

In any case, if Acura wants to void the warranty due to a suspect after-market part, they need to prove that the part did indeed do something wrong. And if it did, you can't really blame anyone but yourself.

You will be pleasantly surprised at the difference that the K&N filter makes. It is such and easy change you will hear the difference as well as get better fuel economy. They say you even get 1 or 2 extra hp. And it is a lifetime filter, a great upgrade.

I do not reacall the number, but you can certainly find it out very easily. Go to their website, or have the dealer look it up when you order it.
