Exclamation Moonroof visor went flying

Took my TL through a new car wash, and the air jet dryer was so powerful that when the air jet got under my moonroof visor, it ripped it off and sent it flying.

I was going to go back in and look for it, and then we saw it 30 feet out front. It went flying right out the front of the car wash. Good thing nobody was standing there...

Its only held on by two clips, so beware.

Dirt had gotten under the visor, and vibration has filed a groove outline in the paint where the visor sits on the roof, so I'll have to buff that out. If you have one, take it off every so often and clean out the dirt.

The visor was trashed from sliding across the concrete, but no biggy because the car is actually quieter now, I am not going to replace.

I specifically asked that a moonroof visor NOT be installed on my car. Since my selling dealer didn't have an ABP in stock, they got it from another dealer that -- surprise surprise -- installed a moonroof visor. I took it off that day and the groove you describe was already in the paint.

I always thought the same thing. The ride looks a lot smoother without the visor.

IMHO, I wouldn't recommend using those drive through car washes in the first place. Those brushes has so much dirt and grease on them and when you drive through those things, all that stuff will scratch your paint.

I know, I know, the car washes can wreck your paint. The reasopn I made the exception is this was a BRAND NEW car wash. Except for the few people who got through before me, those brushes and stuff were CLEAN.

But that brand new air-blower-dryer- wow, too much pressure.

You should have the car wash place pay for any damages.

Tell them that things are supposed to advance and if this is a new car Wash than they should have fully tested it.. Like if its new it should have new capabilities and a Robot arm that picks up anything thats dropped.. I dont know Im not that good at BullSH|Tting but I bet you are.

that is funny, I had mine installed at the dealer, which replaced if for me after it went flying off at 120mph! they didn't like the idea of replacing it, but they had to because it was dealer installed, hence it was covered under warranty!!
shocked the hell out of me when it flew off!!
