moisture from firewall drain plug?

I noticed a steady drip of water from a drain (1") hose protruding through the passenger side firewall. It created a good 3" diameter puddle in the driveway. I soaked some up with a tissue and it seems to be water. Any idea as to what this purpose is (A/C or defrost condenstation), drain for winshield run off?

I would guess it was condensation from the A/C so yes it would be water. Espically if there is a tube there (likely for drainage) it's not like ther is water just drippin' from the bottom of the car.

agreed, the car wont drip water unless there was a reason for it (i.e. it rained recently, or like ResidualFreedom stated like your A/C)

residualfreedom is correct. The tube comes from the a/c evaporator box located behind the glove box. Its purpose is to allow condensation from the a/c to drain out of the evapo box so it doesnt fill up with mildew.

Slightly OT:

My Grandmother used to own an old mid-80s Chrysler K car, and the drain hose from the evaporator got clogged. It filled up so full with water that when she would take a corner the water will slosh out onto the floor.

I fixed it by cutting the tip of the hose off, but it was pretty disgusting...

Thanks all, legendcoupe, your exactly right on the location. I had a brand new Grand Caravan one time that A/C froze up because the residualfreedom wouldn't drain quickly enough.. Gotta love this site!
