Modified TL-P vs. Stock TL-S

I was curious about this possible matchup. How would a '99 TL with a CAI, OBX headers, and aftermarket performance exhaust stack up against a stock TL-S?

I know the headers add about 17 hp at the wheel, which brings the total up into the high 180's range for hp at the wheels. Anyone have any ideas about this, or anything related?

And lastly, what about a TL-P with so many stickers that it qualifies as a billboard on wheels? I bet that'll rip it up at the track

Thanks in advance!

I have went up against a friends stock cl-s(not rondog) and these are the results. Off the line he took me by about 2 cars because of the torque, but once he jumped 2 cars it stayed that way and i played catch up till about 100, so that means they'd still win in the quarter but only by a little unless its a great driver. But, after 100 i started actually pulling on him and when he hit 4th i was gone by like 4 cars till 135 when i shut it down. Then we had 3 50 mph rolls, where a 3rd car did 3 beeps. All three times i pulled by a half car to a car depending who reacted first, and started pulling a lil after 80 then he hit 4th and i was gone again holding 3rd till like 130. Then we also had a few light to lights and he got me ervy time in the short distances. Read my list of mods though. It'll take a lil more than headers and intake.

That's just the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks for posting, bigman!

I bet I can duplicate your performance though, because I also have 2 JL 10w3 subs, as well as the body kit to boot

i'm not sure but the 0-60 times on a 99 TL are slower that the 00-up TL due to gearing, that might have a factor in why he's losing from the short runs...

The '99 TL-P is 0.5 second slower from 0-60mph than the '00+ TL-P because of the one less gear.

The gear ratios between gears in the 5-speed are much closer than those in the 4-speed. So there will be much less "lag-off" between gears in the 5-speed, and resulting in a stronger pull.
