Modifications and ET's in 1/4

Post Modifications and ET's in 1/4

As a new member considering a TL-Type S, I've gotta ask a basic question.

I've seen the exhaust and Intake modifications so far, but what is there available that will get the TL into the high 13's or low 14's in the 1/4 mile. I can't see those alone doing it.

I'm coming from the world of the L67 Supercharged GTP where my car ran a 14.667 while stock. Wminor mods, GTP's are running high 13's and I'd like to be there with my new TL if I can.

Nice site and any help at getting competetive times to my current car would be much appreciated.

Any forced induction car has an inherent advantage here because you can simply up the boost (changing a pulley with an SC, bypassing stock boost cuts or adding a boost controller with a turbo) and get more power.

The "problem" in extracting more power from a TL-S/CL-S is that the engines are already is a high state of tune (for a normally aspirated engine) from the factory.
The intake and exhaust components are of very high quality and flow very well, so finding products that improve upon them even further becomes somewhat of a challenge. Not to say that it can't be done -- people on this board have dyno plots to back it up. However, if it's high 13's you're looking for I don't think you're gonna find it in a TL-S without a decent amount of work or some nitrous oxide -- but then again that's forced induction, too.

I have a '00TL with CompTech Headers, Exhaust, AEM CAI and NOS(50HP) and I ran 13.99.

That's what I was afraid of. I really like the car, but seeing a 50hp shot with headers and intake only bringing a 13.99...hmmnn That's why one of my options is to keep my GTP and add a few mods. Next would be the 3.4" pulley, headers and a High Stall TC.

The TC has been shown to drop the GP a good .5 in the quarter and the 3.4 and headers add 48hp. Those will put mid in the mid 13's along with a bunch of other GP nuts.
