mid muffler delete with stock resonator - loud?

it usually takes me a long time to decide on mods for my car...been thinking about mid muffler delete since I will be only one driving the car. if I leave the stock resonator an delete the mid muffler will the exhaust be loud? I don't want it to be ricer sounding and do not want droning at 2500 rpm. any opinions will be appreciated.

I don't really think there is a point to not removing the resonator if you're going to remove the mid-muffler.

when I had the mid muff gone without the resonator I barely got a drone. Without the mid muff and without a resonator I get a nice rumble when I'm idling and when it's WOT you can really feel like something is going on

I tried a few configurations and ended up settling on just an axle-back Magnaflow exhaust. When I removed the mid-muffler and resonator I got a terrible drone around 2000RPM (iirc). Of course, I have no idea how it would sound if you left the stock rear mufflers. Those needed replaced on mine so that wasn't an option I really considered. Also I have a Type-S, which probably changes things.

Considering how little performance benefit you would get, I can't recommend it.

midmuffler delete with stock resonator still on will not make the car loud. you will only notice the slight droning sound between 2-3k rpms. it's not annoying but it adds a nice stock exhaust sound just like the g35's. here's my '03 tl-s, no engine mods besides the midmuffler delete.

god thats a type-s right? i didnt buy a type-s back in 2003 when i was buying my first acura because the dealer said it would increase my insurance cost! sure, regret it now, but hey my transmission is still working fine after 8 years! if my car will sound like above with just a mid muffler delete, im getting it. i dont want magnaflow exhaust, they are too loud for my taste XD

a TL-P wont sound the same as a type-s

from the looks of it, and underneath my car, i think the type-s has a resonator and a mid muffler and the TL-p has just a mid muffler. i only see a cat, mid muffler and the two axle backs for the stock exhaust on my car a TL-p. so if you remove the mid muffler on a TL-p it has more drown than a type-s, since the type-s still has a resonator. correct me if i am wrong...

if thats the case then mid muffler delete would be an overkill for me. so how do i make my car sound sportier without geting mandrel bent exhaust, i think axlebacks...no catback kits for tl right. im guessing i have to replace all 3 mufflers with aftermarkets...that would be costly i might as well spend on a new exhaust system.

it appears some TL-p's have a mid muffler and resonator, and some only have a mid muffler. my TL-p only has a mid muffler, that i am positive of.

I do not have # 12 that is in this image, that i assume is the resonator everybody talks about. my stock TL-p has a straight pipe from the cat, to the mid muffler #30 from the factory. Pickler, crawl under your car and see if you have a resonator, mine is an 03 year model and does not have #12.

Yeah, on my Type-S I removed #12 and #30 and replaced the rear mufflers with Magnaflow. It sounded terrible at normal around town RPMs. I then (if I have my order of events correct) tried adding a Magnaflow resonator and that didn't help either. So I ended up adding the stock #12 and #30 back in with my new Magnaflow rear mufflers.

And to Pickler: My mufflers are Magnaflow and they aren't loud at all (so long as I have the mid-muffler and resonator on). It sounds just a little sexy but most people likely don't even realize it's not stock.

When I removed the mid and resonator, I noticed that it sounds a little raspier. It's not loud, but still noticeable...I like it. I have a video uploaded on youtube if you look up my name.

search the other 103955789839845035843893409 threads on this subject. You will see many many many results. Whether you like it or not is up to your taste. I did it on my TL-P and had both removed. There was no rasp, just a slightly louder tone.

The difference is that it seems like droning on the 4-cylinder ricers is essentially created by the exhaust (I guess they think it's cool), while the droning on our cars seems like it would exist if you just attach a straight pipe to the engine.
