Mazda 6 vs TL-P
Im looking at getting rid of my 01 CL-S and getting a 4 door something. I already know what the TL-P has to offer ( I work for Acura).
The Mazda (with the 5spd V6) is nice. The Mazda has a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, option of a 6 disk, MP3 or mini disk player, 2 diff rear spoilers, fog lights and other things. I like the styling of the car but its no TL.
Anyone else looked at this car? Let me know what you think.
Peace!

For the price the 6 is a great car...but the TL is way better, can I ask why a TL-P if you have a CL-S...money, or tranny issues? Or is there something you know that we don't?

check there for a review on the mazda6
if you just want the few main points on it, here you go:
Mazda 6 vs TL- P
Speed: Automanual SLOW(8.0) Sportshift Fast
Manual 6.8 6.8 (SS)
Braking: Very good (119ft) Okay (128ft)
Handling: Superb... excellent Good but still more touring
Fit and finish: okay but not great great materials
Exterior: different and sporty Classy Sport
Brand: Mazda (nonluxury) Acura (luxury)
heres the problem with the 6 though:
- when I test drove it, the braking was good but it swayed side to side when doing so (did it the one time i tried a 60-0 slam so i dont know if it does that all the time)
- Some interior plastics feel cheap
- Steering wheel is great and very beautifully balanced
- Tires actually stick though i wouldnt have thought they would...even with the 16'' rims
- automanual is SLOWWWWWWWWWW... check one out and ull find out how slow
- the dash is confusing to operate... buttons all over the place and takes a while getting used to. different looking aluminum dash but a little too much if you ask me
if i had to do it again, id stick to the TL-P. aside from the transmission worries, i love this car. the mazda is afterall a mazda right now.

I had a chance to sit in one today when my sound guys were installing a relay for my remote on, and at first glance i thoght of the new cavalier, the interior is Okay, the door panels are crap, flat, like a saturn or a kia... Dude, buy something with flavor if your not going to shoot for an Acura this time around... the mazda 6 is a car trying to be something its not...
Just my $0.02

darkshear, what is the 6 trying to be that its not?
in my opinion the base with nothing in it will torch our car in handling and braking... no competition about it. with the stock tires i can take turns hard and the car holds, its very nimble and the braking is great. the 6 is trying to be a performance car (with its handling bias) so i think it accomplishes that task very well.

Why compare the 6 to a TL??? They are not the same class of car feature wise or price wise.
If your next car is going to be in that price range, Id definietly check out the new Accord, Maxima, Camry, and Altima. For the price though, and between all those, I really do like the styling of and direction Mazda is taking with the new 6.

I actually did a 6 test drive yesterday. They had no V6 manuals, so I drove an automatic. I liked handling, engine power, exterior styling, did not like autotranny and interior. Luxyry car is mostly luxury on inside, and it shows comparing TL and 6.
SO, I will not be getting Mazda 6 anytime soon - if ever.... Will wait at least until '04 TL comes out, and then check the playing fiels. But once you get something as nice as our TLs, it is hard to go back to "regular" car...

Correct. The more appropriate comparison would be the new TSX to the 6.

the TL-Premium versus the TL-Type S
look at your manual, i believe it mentions the Premium as well

its not a debate about what car is better in its class... the thread starter asked about the mazda6 vs TL-P. if he is considering those cars, its obviously not to stick to one price range or class.
that being said, any updates of what u think?

Since i work for Acura i can get a TL-P for about what i can get a M-6 for. I dont want to wait on the TSX because the value of the CL is sinking like a ton of bricks. The TSX will not be discounted when we get them in April, they may actually be selling above MSRP. I dont like the new accord (outside is ugly), the Altima is a bloated boat and the interior trim is crap (to say the least), Toyota=bland!
I drove a M-6 (S) manual V6 with the sports package, sunroof, bose system and leather (25 something). I think they handle better than the TL-P and are generally sportier. I like the tilting telescoping steering wheel, and MP3 player. The rear seat also fold down.
I just wanted some thoughts on what ya'll thought of the 6. I should have known that a TL forum would favor the TL:p

TSX man..ultimate sports sedan..
unless ur looking for luxury, go for the TL, its an awesome luxury car, but it doesnt have anything in the handling department vs a mazda 6 or a TSX.
