Making an "Acura Cake"
So I laugh every time I think about it, but I'm making an Acura cake. My wife loves our TL and always says how she wants an Acura cake for her Birthday. Her Birthday is April 23rd btw. She and I both love Southpark and "Hell on Earth 2006" was one of her favorite episodes...."Acura? But I wanted a Ferrari!!" "Acura's are really niiice"
Anyway, it's no life-sized Acura cake, but it's still an Acura cake.
I'm doing a 2nd Gen TL.
I used a remote control BMW M6 for the mold, because it came with rims that were as close as I could get to what is on ours.
Anyway, here is my progress thus far. I should be finishing it up tonight or tomorrow morning. My wife is on a business trip at the moment so I've taken the time now to get started. I'm actually making it an ice cream cake, as we both like ice cream cakes better anyway...but it's much harder than just doing a regular cake.
Also, I've never done this kind of thing before...baking and cakes, etc isn't really my specialty hehe.
Here's the car I used
I took the chassis off it and all of the electronics out.
The ice cream I used(cookie dough is her favorite)
I took the body and wrapped tin foil inside it for a mold(i know it's not really shaped like the TL, but it give me a rough base to work off of)
Now I melted the ice cream a little and stirred it up, then plopped it in the mold and threw it in the freezer to harden again
I crushed up some peanut butter filled oreo's for the base of the vehicle/the crust
I took the ice cream mold out of the freezer and placed a layer of oreo's on the bottom of it then back to the freezer it went
Now I needed to form a cardboard base for the car to sit on
This is what the car looks like when I take the plastic mold off
Now here is the car on the chassis, I have aluminum between the cake and the cardboard, I had to carve out the wheel wells a little. Notice I also added cardboard skirts and bumper extensions so it looked like it sat around the wheels instead of on them like a monster truck.
I am about half done with the icing right now, I'm just trying to get a nice thick layer so I can then mold the icing around to make it look less like a g35 and more like a 2nd gen TL lol.
Anyway, I'll keep updating as I make more progress. Once the icing is done, I'll be decorating it with more colored icing to make the windows, lights, grill, etc.

That's awesome.
That south park episode was great but the Acura cake made it perfect for me. The second I saw that car coming I thought I was going to die laughing.

Did a little more touch up tonight
It's starting to look less like a BMW and more like a 2nd gen TL...slowly but surely. I still have to add a little frosting in some areas like the back window/roof and take away some in others and smooth it all out more when I'm done...then to the details.

Well, I'm off to pick the wife up from the airport. So now I have to work on this when she's not around and maybe between hers/my work schedule and on my lunch etc. lol, I'm keeping this in a box in the freezer, I told her not to mess with the mysterious box in the freezer or in one of the bedrooms.
I told her I'm making something for her birthday, but I threw her off by talking about pulling out the electronics and stuff...so I'm pretty sure she thinks i'm making something for the TL...in which she'll be disappointed when she sees it's not true. But the cake will cheer her up hehe. I've also told her I'm making her an icecream cake and that's what's in the freezer. I highly doubt she would think that I'd be up to the task of something like this. Although, I do make all the food in the house and cook almost every night...so maybe. O well, she's getting an acura cake, what more can I do.

very very very rarely. If she does it's to look up mods or pics of cars with stuff done to them. She doesn't log into my account though.
