MAJOR Recall just announced..2002-2003 TLs included
CNN just reported that 440,000 honda/acura vehicles are involed
2002-2003 TLs, 2001 Civics and 2001-2003 Accords have potential air bag issues that put out too much pressure upon deployment. Owners will be notified if there vehicles are included in this recall.
Mods, if this has been posted already, my bad..just wanted to get the word out.

Central Florida Woman At Center of Honda Recall
Posted: 10:51 pm EDT July 23, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A Central Florida woman is one of the victims at the center of an expanded recall on Honda vehicles. The automaker announced a recall Thursday on some of its 2001 Honda Civics and Accords.....
http://www.wftv.com/news/20161971/detail.html
its interesting, two stories on the web are not referring to Acura vehicles, but CNN specifically stated the 2002-2003 TLs. makes sense though since the 2nd Gen TL and that Accord style are on the same setup for the most part
CNN's breaking news banner says the recall was originally announced last year, but I didn't get anything on it..perhaps they are just making double sure this gets taken care of once and for all to avoid potential legal drama.

call acura 1-800-382-2238 x5
register as the cars owner- Need VIN to do it
Thats the place they send RECALL notices in the mail from, so keep your address current
If acura has made this decision for a RECALL and announced VINs covered- either look at the list and your VIN,,, or call your dealer and run the VIN thru service computer
No you dont need the letter from acura- thats just notification to you

same applies to warranty repairs- doesnt matter where you bought the car, acura is picking up the cost - just take it to the nearest dealer after confirming its part of recall vin's
Understand there may be a delay in ordering these parts, and the sudden rush of cars will deplete whatever immediate stock there is in the usa

I checked Acura Owner Link for my '02 TL and there was no recall notice (other than the ones related to the transmission, on which I won't comment). Does this mean I'm safe, or do I need to keep checking to see if a recall notice appears on the Web site? I haven't been able to find anything on-line that lists the VIN ranges affected. Has anyone found that?

the acura owner website takes time to get updated
CNN will have info faster~
and your dealer can punch vin into their system and check
Those postcard recall notices may take weeks- when gen3 had its prob last year with ps hose, well go read the confusion in their threads --notices were sent out in stages based on VIN and availabilty of parts,

I found the notice added to myacura.com account. It does also say that to wait for the actual letter before contacting your dealer for the recall.
Your 2002 Acura is included in the DRIVERS AIRBAG INFLATOR Campaign.

No notice showed up on Ownerlink, so I called the local Acura dealer, figuring that maybe the Web site takes awhile to be updated. The service writer's response was "We just learned about this in the news like you did", and "The list of VINs isn't available yet". (Actually, this is consistent with the of the quality of service at that dealer.)
I called another Acura dealer, gave the guy the VIN, and he checked the list. My car isn't included.
However, the 440,000 cars was the second round of expanding the list. Will there be a third?

Guys dont getn your undies in a bunch, it just came out. Give it sometime to actually circulate and the vin #s to get circulated and finalized.

everyone make sure they are registered with acura care 1-800-382-2238x5
thats where they send recall notices from- whoever is the last person to register with them as the owner,,,may still be on 1st owner after being sold 3 times
that person may throw the notice away--what do they care
and a new owner would never know until the car went to dealer for something and they run the vin for recalls (supposed to every time a car comes in- check for new recalls)
example:
03 owners = how many know about the timing belt pulley recall and how to save on your 105 service with it

Yeah, myacura site only stated the tranny info as well, but i will call that number just to be sure.
Some news outlets reported that this recall came out last year already, but I have never heard of it until yesterday.

Are you sure the 2003 Accord is affected? On autoblog, it said that only the up to the 02 Accord is affected, 2003 is when the 7th gen body style came out. I know this is an Acura website and all, but this kinda scared me.

Davis Acura in Langhorne PA looked up my VIN and said the car wasn't included. The other dealer was in NJ. I would be glad to tell you who it was in private, but in today's unfortunately litigious environment, I don't want to name names in a public forum.

This apparently covers 02's as well, and my VIN is in the affected range. Where is the water pump casting die number? I looked at the water pump, but couldn't find it. Also, should this recall show up on Ownerlink? It doesn't on mine...
