Motherinlaws 99 TL has only 30k but is over 8 years old. Found out nothing but oil changes and few recalls done on it so far.

I'll do some work myself, but need some advice.

- Coolant def needs change, but does Timing Belt need changing with only 30k ,even if 8 years old? Is timing belt a possible diy for only a moderately good diy'er? Prolly get this done professionally.

- Brake fluid: prolly get this done prof.

- tranny fluid: diy, 3x drain and fill. Any filter or other items with this?

- Plugs: diy, probably go with OEM from one of the sponsors here, HandA, or similar. Saw some recom. for iridium? Really looking for good mpg performance, long-lasting. Best option?

- Air filter: will try to get a permanent (cleanable) new Fram or K&N.

- PCV Valve?

- cabin filter, might check it and see.

Anyother tips or advice I should know about other than what is listed in manual? Thanks in advance!

I would change out a timing belt that only had 30k miles and 8 years WAY before a belt with 200k and 4 years. Rubber and age arent a good thing. Its possible to do for a moderate DIY'er.

also repeated cycling of hot and cold weather will degrade the rubber faster regardless of use so change the timing belt rather than taking the risk.
