lowering

hey i went into a place to buy springs to lower my 99 tl. I told him that i didn't need them to lower it because i had a friend that could do it i just needed the springs. The guy told me that, that wasn't a good idea because the TL is a hard car to balance. I don't really know what he ment, was he just trying to make some extra money off of me to get them to lower it or is it really that hard to lower a tl? thanks.

I'm not sure how hard it is to install the springs. Most legit shops charge $200 - $250 for 3-4 hrs of labor. If your friend have had the experience installing springs, go let him do it and save some $$$.

hmmmm...

in my case it was a coilover set...(Ground Control)...Other TL owner from Texas named Austin stopped by my area (Atlanta, GA) to install my coilovers for me...it took about 5 hours... from watching him do it and helping him, I learned how to insatll coilovers...it wasn't Too hard...the steps are basically the same...

you unscrew bolts, take out, compress, put in, bolt in...etc... but each step takes effort and strength to do...and compressing/decompressing each springs manually, by hand, was not hard but takes a while...

If they are charging you by hours...i would think that they can finish this job in about 3 hours....(considering they have ALL the automatic lift, and compressing equipments)...maybe even less...
though, I doubt they'll go lower than $200...look for some other TLers...and ask for help... I myself saved $225...(which i'll buy sway bars with...hehe...)
