My passenger side low beam headlight flickers and stays on for about 10 seconds, then goes out. The owners manual says since high voltage can remain in the circuit even when the key is out, it must be replaced by the dealer. Is there anything I can do without bringing it back to the dealer (of course it's 6 months out of warranty). Is the bulb actually out, or is there a connection I can tighten? Thanks

Does it always turn off right after you turn it on or after the car drives around a bit? It could be that the bulb has a shortage or the filament that lights the charge is broke. Either way the bulbs are not cheap to buy. But also try checking the wiring to the bulb up to the ballast.

if the headlight has a repeated pattern of turning on then off in 10 sec its not the bulb. high voltage cable is loose or broken down or its the ballast, I suspect the later.

Thanks for the responses. It always happens, even if I'm not driving. Is the ballast easy to replace?

dont know about ballast replacement but a good dealer would "do something" for you on a fix
