Rear ended - Looking for a good body shop in south Bay
Hey all,
After coming back from a vacation, my car was "sandwished" while I was waiting for the light at a junction. The stupid woman was probably talking on the cell phone while she ran her car into my back.
It sent my wife to the hospital and was released later on. My baby was in the car and thank GOD the car seat protected him from any injury.
ARGH !!!!
Anyway, I am looking for a good body shop around San Jose area to get my car fixed. Could anyone please recommend any body shop that does a great job on the car (Acura) ?
I will try to post some pictures later on but it's so sad to see my TL-S at this condition.
BTW, can anyone please comment on how to deal with the insurance of the driver that hit my car ? Could you please go through the process ? This is my first major accident and I want to make sure I did not leave anything behind.
Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about the car. Glad your baby is ok and your wife is released from the hospital and recovering.
This is what you need to get. Her driver's license, license plate and insurance info. Also get the person you got sandwiched in front of to be your witness. Get his/her info. If there is a police report on the accident, get the file number.
Depending on if you want get your insurance involved you can or just have the person at fault's insurance handle your repair. If they low ball your repair estimate, go to your insurance and get an estimate. If its higher, pay your deductible and let your insurance go after them. You will be reimbursed when that woman's insurance co pays your insurance co. There isn't any penalty to you in terms of a higher premium. It wasn't your fault in the accident.
Go to a Acura dealer and see who they recommend. They normally have a body shop they prefer or know of one that does good work with Acura's. You should be able to choose your body shop. If her insurance says you must go to there listed shops they are probably full of it. In CA you don't have to go to their shops.

Thanks for the advise. I spoke to my insurance agent today. I will have to bring my car to the adjuster tomorrow for the estimate and then bring it to the body shop for the repair. I have chosen Los Gatos Acura as my body shop and the person whom I spoke to sounded very helpful.
I would probably get a lawyer to handle my claims since it involves my wife and baby's medical bills and ambulance bills.
Here is the picture of my baby TLS after being rear-ended :

also, go seek a lawyer to place charges against that stupid woman, the lawyer will most likely refer your wife to a chiropractor and they'll cut a deal of some sort. The lawyer will not charge you unless he/she wins the case, and if you win... the lawyer will take a portion of the claim, as will the chiropractor... leaving you likely 1/3 of it.
This is exactly what my friend did, and best of all ... you don't have to do anything! just sit your a$$ and wait...
anyway, good luck man.
