Looking to buy one tonight!!

I'm looking at an '02 TL-Type S w/ Navigation & Body Kit. It has 19K miles on it. They're asking 23,995 but I think I can get them to part with 22,000.

First question...
- Is this car worth 22K?

Second question...
- What should I look for when I check it out? Any problems etc?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

PS. Should I look for another year? 02's have any particular problems? I see alot of TL's w/ low milage out there.

Nope, none at all. Since you've obviously read through all the posts, this forum is nothing but a positive, love-fest for the '02 and '03 TL (heck, all of them really)!

Is it Acura certified? Find out if it still has the original transmission. (not necessarily a good thing if it does, or bad thing if it doesn't)

If it was replaced, when was it replaced? Hopefully second half of last year.

Ask the dealer if they have the full service record, or ask where it was purchased when new, that way you can track the service records if it was brought to Acura for its routine checks....

where are you getting it? from a private seller or dealership? Make sure it's acura vertified and get it in writing!
I alwasy bought a mechanic with me whenever I went to check out a used car.

awesome!!! It's actually from an Infinity dealer. I'm not sure if a non-acura dealer certify's them. I did the car-fax thing and nothing showed. I appreciate all your helps guys. Hopefully I'll become a full-timer on here real soon

it does not have to be certified because he has only 19,000 miles on it the factoory warranty coveres until 4yr/50,000 adn the transmission is covered 7yr/ 100,000, he should be fine cause i bought with out a certified acura warranty and it is still covered under the factory warranty until 50,000 o rthe 4yr are up

Silly noob, I purchased my TL Certified, with 29K on it, but you get an extended warranty. (Mine is covered untill 62K miles) I also have the 7yr/100K powertrain (like everyone else).

No need to ridicule him for being a newbie. I think he was merely stating that since the vehicle is an '02 with only 19,000 miles, Brian has plenty of the factory warranty remaining should any problems arise.

bought mine w/ 100K warranty. I added it for $1500. Acura covers it for another 2 years and my additional warranty covers it for another 3.... or 100K. I'm all set in my opinion.
