A look at the XS-P headers flex pipe

Saturday, Nov. 22nd.

i was driving around my county just for a little time with my car and since i was near the exhaust shop where aznbo187 has gotten his ATLP prototype made, i said why not visit them and ask them about the flex pipe.

So i pull in... and... right to work

off with the flex pipe..

this is how it looks..

the worker there said this POS is pretty cheap looking.

he said something about the inside being broken and on the outside, you'll never know.

but hey, i got my little buzzing sound gone.

what did i get it replaced with??

yup.. THAT.. name of it?? no idea... for $65 i say it was alright.

but it comes off of a RSX-S stock piping..

says he replaces most flex pipes with those and fixed broken flex pipe problems..

Getting my 2.5 piping done soon. Let's see what I gain. I might take off the other flex pipe too.

you could hear it.. drive next to a median with your windows down.. and you hear.. bzpzpzppzppzz.. or like.. a farting noise.. coming from where the flex pipe is..

retightened all the bolts.. lined up flanges.. new gaskets.. and noise didn't go.. so this was only suspect left...

the ATLP was very expensive. had good gains but you gotta keep in mind their is a younger demographic with the 2nd gens. the gains were good, but not 1k good. maybe 800 wouldve scored some more buyers.

as for the buzzing. i dont have buzzing after im warmed up. its only while my car is still cold. i get the angry rasp coming from my tail pipes

The joint isnt a bottle neck. but i would have rather had a better flex pipe welded in.

thats a way better flowing design than the current XS style. i noticed it was a crappy design when i first bought the headers.
