I would call AEM and complain big time. Maybe they'll give you a new one or try to accomodate you in some way.

He means the metal bits from the hole.

nuc: did you use the rubber mount thingy that came with your intake? It looks like to me that the thing just shook itself apart.

Okay you caught me. I didnt use the stupid rubber thing because their was no way to secure the fuse box. But i aint gonna tell the store I bought it from 3 weeks ago that i didnt use it. I didnt think their would be a problem. How would you mount the fuse box thing if you used the rubber thingy?

did you hit hole or a curve? Did you leave a cushion space between the intake and TB, you know what I'm talking about? the piece of rubber that connects the 2. You have to leave a little part of rubber between the end of the intake and the beginning of the TB.

It was your engine the broke the intake, by that I mean the movement of your engine which is controlled by the engine mounts. The piece of rubber on the fuse box, would had help to minimize the posibility of what just happend

My aem cai also got a hole couple months ago. the hole was near the bottom of the intake right by where the filter is. it was probly rubbing on some metal and eventually wore out.
so what did you do about the metal crumbs you mentioned? I got fuel injection cleaned at jiffy lube and changed oil... didn't know what else to do.

I dont know what to do. I put my stock filter back on. Im not sure how much sh it got in my eng. Not exactly sure when the hole appeared. While looking at hte uninstalled intake I dont think there was much metal missing. My oil is due a change anyway. I just noticed the hole last night.

aem almost gave me a new intake... until they found out my warranty expired like 4 days before... so i just got the pipe welded and repainted... looks new on the outside but you can see where the hole used to be on the inside. i haven't put it back on yet though cuz i've been lazy and putting it off. for now, i took off the bypass valve and put the filter on in its place, like a short ram. good luck with urs.. check into getting aem to replace urs for a new one.

:wow: :wow: :wow: I would flip if I saw a hole in my intake. Now I have the knock off AEM, and I'm very pleased with it. But I'm still going out to my car in about 5 minutes to check everything. I usually inspect the CAI once a week.

DAD- Dynamic Auto Design. Yea, it works just like AEM, its basically a replica, made of all the same things. I even think the filter is the same, and the bypass valve works on it. I payed $70 for it. And I love it. Eventually I think I will get the AEM V2 though, once I hear some reports, and save up some cash.
