$700 is to much, I paid $500 2 years ago, and by now it should be even cheaper.
It certainly helps to recover your car faster ONLY IF you report it stolen soon after it is stolen. Some peope argue that they wish their car is never found when its stolen, the truth is that in 80% cases your car will be found and the longer it takes police to find your car the more damage can occur.

Anyway, you will get some discount on your insurance, so it should pay off for itself in 5-6 years....

I have it in my car. Haven't use it once! I wouldn't put it on since everyone complain that you are better off without it. But my dealer somehow "con" me into getting it when I purchase the car 2 years ago.

I went with the BlackJax anticarjacking self recovery system thats built -in to my clifford alarm. I was intrested in Lojack when I purchased my 1994 new but never got it. I go all the info back then from my car dealership. That price of $700 was floating around then. I think they had a range of alarm systems that included Lojack or a stand alone Lojack itself. We had a case here of a stolen car about a month ago. The police tracked the stolen car with Lojack & found it in a salvage yard or chopshop.
He also found many many more late model stolen luxury cars form the area. This included Lexus,BMW & Lincoln cars along with other makes.
They had it all on the local news channels & this Lincoln Town Car was all cut up but looked brand new. The problem here in the city is that alot of the police cars are not set-up with Lojack or do they have the time to track like the local suburbs. This is why I went with the BlackJax anticarjacking self recovery system. Its not a big factor here of some tow truck driver taking your car off the street to a chop shop. Its more likely that someone would carjack you or punch you ignition to steal your car. In that case the BlackJax would work better.

You usely get A Insurance discount if you have any type of Recovery device like Lo/jack or Auto Alarm. I have found this site called www.trackmenow.com
I am thinking of getting this device instead of Lo/jack

Get it but be cautious. I have a friend that has it on his Navigator and one might he decided to go out looking for some a$$....well his wife tracked him using lo jack and caught him with another gal in the navigator. Not in the front seats, if you know what I mean. I currently have on star and I have not told my girl all of the stuff that on star can do for you.
