Limited mods!

I'm not planning on sinking too much $$$ into my TL as far as mods go. I've got a K&N drop in filter ad am removing the resonator. I was thinking of dropping my TL 4x4 w/ some Comptech Springs.

As far as headers go, how much of hp gain will I get from the Comptechs???

Also, I've heard that some guy/company was designing a part that would attach to your upper intake or something......can't think of name, where it actually goes or what it does. Does it exist and how much?

Thanks guys.

Comptech headers will get you 25-30 horses at the maximum. This has been discussed a lot. Do a search you you will find the answers to your questions.

Has this been proven via dyno? I seriously doubt you will get that much of a gain from headers alone.

As for the part attaching to the upper intake, that is called the RES and can be found by searching.

Alexxx, I heard about the 25-30 hp claims from adding the Comptech headers......I'm just a little skeptical about it. I cold see if the stock headers are the size of straws and the Comptech's are 2", and the rest of the exhaust could handle increasing the size. Are these #'s at the flywheel? If they have.......I guess headers'll be a mod I do on my TL.

As a fellowStang owner, I have to tell you to enjoy the car for the comfort, quietness, smoothness etc and not to mention the way a TL drives in foul weather compared to a Stang.....a whole another level in foul weather.

The bang for the buck HP you get from modding a Stang is not even close to the TL's limited "modiblity". It's a comfortable FWD luxury car. I'm all for improving it with mods but don't hope for the same amount of fun dude. Improve the TL and keep the Stang as your "speed" fix...or as I like to call it the "Torque" fix.

Ya know what I mean?

Now for the headers, I'm not sure if you have a Type-S or not but the 32HP claims are for the Type-S engine's, the TL-P are claimed to gain 17.9HP according to their 1999 Dyno chart. The Type-S bennefits that much more because it's able to suck that much more air and thus gains more HP when the air is allowed to exit more freely.

Go here for the Comptech CL Type-S dyno;

Go here to view the 99 TL dyno, it tops at an extra 17.9HP.
