Lil help

kid has a 99 TL and he just called me and says it won't idle, he has to give it gas to get it to run. He told me he did use 87 but filled it with 93 today. Called me a second time to say the car dies when he gets to a light...he has to rev it to put it in gear then it is ok so long as he stays moving...btw his check engine light is always on since he didn't get the O2 sensor replaced yet, but that hasn't caused any issues...

I am thinking MAF or Idle control valve...any opinions?

Thanks

CELs arent just dummy lights. When they are on things need to be replaced. Just because it "Seems" to run ok doesnt mean it is. First thing to do is get the codes re read and see what its throwing for codes. If it wont idle it could be a TPS sensor, or a IACV though the later usually causes erratic idle. We dont have a MAF sensor.

Ok...

Got the codes P1366 and P0140...I believe the 1366 is new and the reader says TDC Sensor #2 but I cannot find that in any manual? Anyone?

That is a TDC sensor code (1366). If you are good with a Ohm/volt meter i can give you the directions for the test procedure. If not you can gamble its that sensor and replace it (means removing the timing belt and front cam gear) other wise you may want to bring it in to have done. #15 below
