LED project revisited

got some hyper blue LEDs this week and re-did all the interior lighting. I must say, the new LEDs are way brighter than my last ones (and cheaper too!). I also did the conversion properly that I removed all the blue filters wherever possible. The end results speak for itself

I'm going to do the radio this weekend. I'll post some more pics after

Where'd you get the hyper bright LEDs and what was the total cost this time around? Also, can you provide a list of the different size LEDs that were used for each location, and the resistor impedance on each as I recall when you did the first install, you had to use different diameter LEDs to get the correct amount of brightness and diffusion in each location? I was just thinking about doing the conversion myself since my Pioneer Premier 940MP head unit has blue lighting and i wanted to match the boring and dim OEM lighting to the head.

Kinda real lame that even a new Chrylser Cirus (even the $16k or so base model) has dash lighting thats way brighter than whats in our TL.

WOW

Tatewaki,

You and your mods ... you truly are amazing, dude! I'll have to check it out a couple w/e's from now. (You have time to do my interior now ... now that you've perfected the technique, right???)

The only way I can show you up now is on the 401 ... you haven't done any engine mods (yet).

Always looking great, Tatewaki.

Thanks for all the compliment guys. For a detail guide on how to do it, here is the page written up by Nate

http://natestl.seattleone.com/LEDProject.html

This is quite comprehensive. But instead of using the expensive LEDs that he mentioned, I bought some cheaper ones with narrow viewing angle and shaved the lens. Here is the guide that shows you how to shave the lens.

I also removed more blue filters, and changed all the orange / green indicator lights to red LEDs for better contrast with the blue color.

Just for the clock and AC took me about 3 hrs of work. Most time is spent on soldering the leds and resistors (they are too darn small!).

Here is the thread that shows all the lights converted to leds
