Cool LED dash lights

My latest project while sitting at home with the new baby.

Need to work out a few of the white light bleed thru issues in the KMH section and the Fuel symbol

There arent any hotspots, my phone camera cant get a better pic plus its light out.

Enjoy

Thanks guys.

Its not hard, just tedious.

Im still thinking of adding some more stuff to it. Want to make the needles brighter. I have a wire hooked up so that i can hook the red up to vtec so when it activates the tach/or entire cluster light up red and the blue turns off while its activated (red also would light up when lights are off if i wanted. Would like to get it so the tach lights up red when at redline. Especially useful when auto-x'ing or racing

Also been looking at ways to have it light up in steps as the tach climbs

Anyone Think i should have the bottom of the fuel gauge look like the upper half of the temp gauge? (red)

Yea. I remember seeing it done like that and it looked good that way. Kinda looks better with both of them that way i think instead of just the one. You ever think about having it light up a different color at redline? Maybe go from blue to orange for vtec and then red for shift? just an idea. Not sure what you would tap into for a specific rpm or redline. Looks good btw.

I don't think so. The last notch on the gas is already red.

If your engine overheats, the temp will drift into the red. This actually means something bad.

If your less than a half tank of gas, you shouldn't "be in the red." Maybe just the last two notches, but definitely not half like the temp.

If you can do something like the LEDs lighting in Steps behind the Tach in red Kinda like the S2000 Tach (Tough thats Digital) but I know what you want to do, Would look Awesome if Doable...

Are you Using LEDs or SMDs?

Damn Kris you've been busy...i just saw the headlight conversatio.

But as far as lighting you could do fuel/temp green/red and change it up.

And to get to tach to light up while you drive you might be able to wire up a set of mini switches, and as the needle rises it flicks em on, and off as it drops. The bigger problem might getting a set of switches that won't make the needle stick

Calibration is easy...find a police radar on the side of the road and mark the speed as long as your less than 2 mph off your pretty much good

Calibrating is easy. Getting the needles off without pulling the center shaft out/breaking them is the hard part

The switches would have to be on the face of the gauge. It wouldnt work. A easier way would be to measure voltage or find what is the tach trigger and wire in resistors that once the desired signal is reached it lit them up.

Oh and i dont have a pic of them but i removed the green filter for the blinkers and put a blue led in there so the blinkers light up blue. They are bright so i think im going to take a small piece of window tint to lessen the light a little

When i eventually get around to fixing the few things i want to fix, i need to take the black ring that helps keep the light going into the needles off from the gas/temp gauges. I also want to add some more white lights in the rest of it to illuminate the gauges slightly more. I also am toying with getting rid of the LEDs i have and adding RGB led's so i have a near infinite number of colors i can adjust to.

ah, i didn't notice the fuel/temp needles... maybe a tad brighter on the white would look nice. but dam this looks really good.

not sure about the RGB LED though.. the blue with red and white needle base is perfect.. i guess if you were feeling to just randomly change things up, i suppose so.

Yea, I just need to remove the trim rings on them.
Only thing it would really allow me to do is have less LED's in there as I wouldn't need 2 sets for the 2 colors. That and I could pick any color I wanted to. I also need to change the odo bulbs with these LED's.
