Lease turn in - non OEM tire size

The lease is up on our 01 TL in 11 months. Next month it is time to buy a set of tires. I am leaning towards 225 55 16's in lieu of the stock 205 60 16's.

My question, has anyone had or heard of a problem with a non OEM tire size on the car at lease turn in? I believe the lease document just discuss 4/32" of tread or something like that.

Thanks for any help.

And - someone will ask - we will be in the market next Aug or Sept for the Generation 3 TL.

From my leasing experience

I have turned in cars with non oem tires and never heard anything. I think that is because what they do with lease cars is (usually) auction them off (at least my last two were like that) - I got some weird letter last time about how much it made at auction and blah blah blah..I don't think I was supposed to get that.

you can get away with alot of **** done to your lease and they will say nothing

the ONLY thing dealers look at when you trade your lease is your mileage, paint/dents and tire DEPTH...

you could trade in your TL when the lease is up with 225's, cleared lights, aftermarket OEM-like spoiler, and headers and they wouldent care. trust me, their going to sell the car regardless of what you do to it

the only think they care about is what ever you do to your car ie.. modifications either stay on the car or that they cause no damage when taken off or the stay on it if they will.

The only thing I'd consider is 225 is pretty wide for that wheel.

Thanks for the input -

The lease merely states that the tires must be comparable (no retreads) to what was provided when the car was new, and there must be at least 1/8" tread.

No mention of OEM sizes, so it sounds like a good tire and the bank (Suntrust) will be happy.
