Lazy ignition start
my TL-P (2002) has had the stock battery now at a mileage of 65,000 miles. Recently I've noticed that when I turn the key to start the car, the ignition takes longer to start the engine.
I am not sure if this a battery issue. Is the hot weather to blame? How long did the stock battery last for you guys? |
does it crank slower?
yeah...the crank is way slower than normal.
Battery problem. Speaking of those, however, I left a maplight on in my TL for 36 hours recently and the battery didn't lose charge at all. The car didn't cut it off, I noticed it when I got back to it - it was still on and hot to the touch.

How many years have you had the stock battery? |
Battery problem. mine lasted about 3 1/2-4 years
i was experiencing the same problem but when i swapped out the spark plugs it seemed to have corrected itself.
how long is long enough to keep the OEM spark plugs in ur car?
The plugs are good up to 100k miles.
if you have slow cranking its not plugs. if it cranks the same but takes longer to start its the plugs
Yeah (was on other thread) - slow crank is definitely not the key issue.
