Lastest Rumor of the 04 TL

The lastest rumor on the new 2004 TL is that it is coming with a power rear shade (like the infiniti I35) and XM radio. The engine surpose to be 280hp front wheel drive and the TL-P with 260hp. The only option is gonna be the navigation system. The price is to be expected in the mid 30's. The vehicle once again is build from the accord's chassis with a wider wheel base and upscale suspension. That being stated this comes from a general manager in Wayne Acura for those who are from jersey, but one thing for sure is that the TL's are gonna go for mid 30's definitly.

sigh... 225 to 260 as the TL-P... makes me feel really slow... though with the bigger size, i doubt itll be that much faster. btw, XM radio i heard is an option instead of standard... they cud make it standard but have u pay for the service... power sunshade is cool

ahh, oh well. i am still happy with my car. I try not to dwell on what others have or i could of had. going from a mid 20 thousand car. to a 30 thousand car makes a big difference in refinment and goodies, and the car is overall much better and feels better. my tls is my god to me. and well even if i got the 04, later there will come a time where a more newer and better version will come out. im just happy i even got a acura.

talked with Pohanka Acura, VA, the salesman told me that the Acura 2004 will not be out until Oct 2003. He told me to wait for beginning 2005, the new RL will have NSX engine (400 hp) with AWD, with new body inside out....

TL-P's with AEM CAI and headers run pretty good, I mean that's what I have and a 15.1 or 15.2 quarter mile time isn't shabby. Sure I'd like to have more but my car has been good to me.

lol! No way... I can see the AWD but an NSX engine heehee... Why would they do that? If it were to get a new engine it would be based on a new IVTEC design.

Tom, the TL-S is gonna go for mid 30's and for the TL-P will start at high 20's to low 30's and we will be getting the side mirror singals as stanard features like our little brother's TSX. Again these are just rumors of a GM in a Acura dealership in Wayne, NJ.

O.k., I'll calm down for now. If the TL-P is gonna have the (now) TL-S's 260hp that's fine for me . I test drove an '03 TL-S twice now and it's enough for what I need. Needless to say I have NO TL of any sort yet.

But then again, like you said, it is a rumor.

Honda has confirmed about a month ago that XM radio will begin appearing on the new 2004 and up models ( http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...threadid=91775 ).

As for the HP, last rumor I heard (before this) was that the TL-S was to get 280hp and the TL-P was to get around 240hp.

I had also heard price was going up to around $32k, but there was no info if that was for the Type-S or the TL-P.

Since Acura has not said a word about the TL... I wouldn't get too mad (or excited) at this point. I typically don't trust dealers on info like this (they're usually inaccurate).... so just wait and see what happens. With a fall 2003 release scheduled we should be getting some news around spring time .

If the 04' TL-P has 260hp they can rebadge it what ever they want because I would still consider it a TL-S (sans the shifter badging, perforrated leather, guage cluster color and stiffer suspension) But a couple of a thicker swaybars can help the suspension. The lager size (wider?) may be a slight problem to get it in my garage.

I probably won't get the Navi so that's no problem although the perfforated leather would deffinitley help my sweaty back in the summer.

I'm still a little angry but for now I'll still give Acura another chance.

Angry

If Acura does not improve both quality and service it doesn't matter what the 04's offer. I have never been more disappointed in any vechile I have owned and I have owned many. I get better and more honest service from the local Mobil service station.

You may possibly see that as an option..... maybe.

You have to keep in mind that the TL is still a luxury car, regardless of how much HP it has. Ride and comfort will remain extremely high on the priority list.... and standard 18" rims most likely does not fit that formula.

Of all of the rumors I've heard, none of them have mentioned 18" rims. Again, until Acura announces something, we can say anything we want about the car.... but it will not be true or fact until Acura makes an official statement.

You mean like the BMW. The heck with Infiniti, they are just trying to catch up to BMW. The five series has a rear shade for years.

It is interesting how everyone copies the pioneers. Like those turn signals in the mirrors. Medcedes has had those for a few years now. Actually if you follow technology, it seems like Mercedes has been the pioneer for technology for the past 80 years. Anti-lock brakes, fuel injection, air bags, overhead valves, etc......

Technically it's copying... but it's also smart business. Everyone lets other companies to the R&D, then just takes the technology and puts their own twist on it. So Mercedes initially came out with the signals on the mirrors... then the other companies started doing it. Better for them to let Mercedes gamble to see if it will be popular or not. Gotta love capitalism.....

As another poster suggested, perhaps only as an option. I doubt that Honda will go for what is largely a cosmetic enhancement at the expense of ride, mileage, and power. A proper design such as found on the new BMW 7 series incorporated the large wheel into the suspension tuning to optimize the various parameters. You can do that on a $70,000 sport sedan with 325 hp. Such is not achieved by just dropping on some big rims.

as per a report by acl's own gravill ...honda has been quoted as saying "... you can go as high as 270hp FWD and still have luxury..." so if the new TL-S is to be 280 hp then look for AWD and id say more than mid 30's

Call me silly. But I am not getting too exciting about 04 TL. The car is getting a tad to big, too expensive. I am more looking forward to TSX Type S. Smaller but still sporty. Easy on gas, lots of power and better mod option. I love my TL now, but anything more expensive or bigger than that are not doing it for me anymore on a Jap car.

I heard the same thing I dont think that it will have more than 270 and 250 for the TLP. We are near the limits with front drivers now, 260 current TLS,255 current Maxima. These cars just cannot accomodate to much more power than what they have now 250-270 is plenty for these cars.

i'm not into the incredible amount of hp in cars. 240-270 is fine with me.
The thing i'm worrying about is the looks. and what kind of features it has on it. But most importantly, its all about the looks IMHO. that y i picked up a tl-s over the i-35 and g-35 sedan(back then no g-35 coupe which looks preety hot)
