just got my springs on, got a prob!

I just got some H&R OE springs on my TLS cause michigan snow prob wouldn't let me run with sport springs. But the only problem is......well they have been on for a day, but it seems like the rear driver side spring sqeeks everytime I hit a bump? Do you think there could be something wrong with the install? I dunno what to do. Well I called my mechanic on the phone who put them on, he said to bring it back it and he would take a look at it. Has this happened to anyone who got springs put on their car? Any sqeeking or anything. I went and pushed down on the rear driver side of the car, and it sqeeks whenever I push there, and not when I push at any other cornor of the car. Any ideas on what could be wrong? Thanks in advance.

actually its not a sqeeking sound, its more of a clicking sound, like as if the trunk wasn't closed all the way and it keeps hittin up and down everytime I hit a bump. Any ideas? car has 40k miles......I hope it doesn't have anything to do with the shocks already. You think the springs aren't installed right? anyone?

Hey gaddamit,

I've got the same problem too, only when I go over things slowly (out of the driveway, speed bumps, slowing hard at a stop sign, etc). On the highway, it's not a problem. I got the CT springs & sways done at the same time. Thought it was the sways needed teflon'ing but maybe it's the rubber boot that goes on the springs. Will have to get that checked ... (sigh)

That interesting, I just spoke to Steve and Rob at H&R yesterday, they said they didn't make an OE for the Type S.

And it sounds like those of us who bought sport springs early in 2002 and were given spring #51858 also got the incorrect springs (not made for the type S)- they gave me the correct part number. May explain why the drop was much more than the 1.75/1.5 advertised.

Sounds like a spring seat (rubber sleeving) problem. Depending on how the shop do it, they may re-use the old spring seat (not exactly the best way to go) or change to newer ones. Unfortunately if the spring seat is worn and you need to replace it, you'll have to take out everything to put it on. That means time and labor

If you have sway and hear clunking noise, that means the teflon bushing needs to be replaced

GaddAMIT .. search CL-S forum if you haven't already, I've read about this problem several times, in fact, it was THAT reason that I decided not to go w/ springs and buy sways instead

its most likely the rubber sleeves that Tatewaki mentioned. you can remove the ones from your original springs and put them on your new springs.

Tatewaki, where do you buy new ones?
