Just bought a 2000 TL

WARNING!! Kinda long

Not exactly my TL, but my dad's

I have been reading messages on this board for the past month. This is a great forum. I got a lot of good advice by just reading old posts. My dad almost certainly had bought a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (I know I know American car). I started to suggest looking into a used Acura TL. He wasn't too sold, but after we drove the first one, he loved it. It was a 97 3.2TL. The person was asking too much so we backed off. Then last week we had closed on a 99 3.2TL, but the guy was a flake made us run around getting the loan and in the last minute said he couldn't get his new car, so he isn't selling this one. Anyway, point of the story, we bought a 2000 Silver 3.2TL last night. Had 19K miles on it for 22950. Was that a good price? From everything I found on the net and the newspapers say it's a good price. The guy had a burl walnut shift knob and wheel locks. Other than that everything was factory equipment. The car looks great, just two small scratches that can be buffed out. My dad is EXTREMELY happy with the purchase. He drives almost 60 miles each way to work and I thought it was about time he drove in some style .

If anyone can tell me what I should look for, or anything that I should pay attention to on these cars. There was one thing I notices a rattle coming from the sunroof cover. When I open it, it seems to rattle, when its' closed it doesn't seem to bad. If anyone can give me suggestions on this I would appreciate it.

Thanks again for all your help and sorry for the long post.

I think that's a great price. A couple of months ago I traded in my 2000 TL w/ Nav with 15500 miles and got 24500 for it.

Hey Dude...that's an awesome price! After looking thru Kelley Blue Book (kbb.com) and Edmund's (Edmunds.com), that's exactly the price you should have paid.

Hope he likes it. I sure love mine. Welcome to the World of Acura.

A great car at a great price - way better than a GTP, which has great power but has a way too plasticky interior and terrible quality control. The dealer should fix the moonroof as the car is still under warranty. Best of wishes with his new ride.
