Yup!

I got rid of those crappy stock tires and mounted some 225/55 Toyos

I took some before and after shots if anyone cares to check it out.

So far I like these tires MUCH better then those Michelins. I almost got in a fight with the guy at tire kingdom because he refused to sell me the tire! He couldnt believe I wanted to mount that size on my car. Never the less when I started to walk away he gave in.

Nice new tires, but how many miles did you put on the oem(old) tires?

Cool

Good luck with your FZ4's. No complaints with mine. Make sure they were installed correctly and rotated properly as they are
unidirectional. I don't think they will be very good in the snow, but it dosen't look like that will be an issue with you!

The tires give me a hell of a lot more grip on the road and I didnt notice any loss in ride quality. Plus they were much cheaper then the michelins. Hopefully these Toyos will last past 20K miles unlike my michelins. I cant afford to replace my tires every six months.

What on earth did you do in order to kill the stock tires in 16k miles? I'm at ~26k miles on 3 out of 4 original tires (punctured the sidewall on one of the originals) and they're doing fine in the tread department. I drive my car moderately hard... I like to push it on turns, and usually take it up to the posted speed limit in a hurry from a dead stop while driving locally.

Definately considering some stickier rubber next time around... The only problem is that we get a decent amount of snow and ice in New York, so if I go overboard in the warm weather performance direction on the new tires I'll end up needing snow tires. That would be okay - just need to get myself another set of wheels to mount them on. I have two scratched up wheels that I'd like to replace anyways.

Bald at 16K miles? Man, ya must be DOGGIN' the crap outa that car! I expect no less than 25K miles out of mine!!!

hHaven't checked the specs on yer new rubber, but my gues is that b/c the OEM rubber is quite conservative, more performance-oriented tires will wear even faster...

And please, no one give me any treadwear comparisons - those numbers are assigned by the manufacturers, and thus there's no way to compare a rating between Company A and Company B with their treadwear numbers. The only valid comparo is b/t tires of the same manufacturer, and even that assumes they're not 'cooking' the numbers.

Beware .....
As a couple of members mentioned almost a year ago, 225/55 will definitely rub if you have Comptech springs or lowered your front by more than 1.5".
215/55 will not rub with a lowered front end.

Im not playing around when I say I drive a car HARD... That was my second set of michelins my first set lasted 20K. So 36K miles on my car and 3 sets of tires, one complete brake replacement, and one new transmission. And a few other odds and ends like engine mounts and what not.

Not bad for 2 years.

how much did you pay... maybe i'll get your tires... ours run about 150 each... YOURS????????????

BTW: Treadwear ratings are now uniform even across brands. And the stock MXV4+'s are 50,000 rated tires.. did you go out with a knife and fork and eat them for meals ????
