Thumbs up It's Been a Fun Ride!

I just wanted to take a minute to thank everyone here over the last 8 years I have been a member. When I bought my 2001 TL in 2004, I joined here and started down that slippery slope of customizing my ride...albeit a modest one considering my age.

From the custom installed Kenwood 7" touch screen w/ speakers, amps, and sub...to the tires & wheels, ground effects, suspension mods, headers, s/s exhaust & mufflers, cold air intake, pulleys...the list goes on and on. All bought from recommendations from you guys out there and the vendors that frequented the forum over the years. I just put all new rubber on it and bought a complete new set of slotted/drilled rotors to replace the drilled rotors on there.

As life would have it, I lost my ride in the flood waters of Hurricane Sandy here in Toms River, NJ. She died a slow and painful death as the 10' to 12' waves came in off of the Barnegat Bay bulkheads half a block from our house. First the alarm went off, then stopped...then went on again...then went off again, never responding to the remote. Then the horn came on and stayed on until it started to gurgle from the water rising up to drown it. I sat in my bedroom and tried to put a pillow over my head to stop from hearing the horn...it was so sad. The entire car was submerged, water in the cupholders, mud on the seat tops, pools of water in the 4 footwells.

Man, I loved that second gen version of the TL...when that thing was waxed up and detailed, it still out shined newer cars on the road as I still got compliments right up until a few days before she died.

It looks like I'm stepping out of the TL Family temporarily as I need a larger vehicle for work as an outside sales rep. But I will be back some day.

Thanks again guys, while I didn't post a whole lot, I sure learned a ton from you young guns out there..and for that I will be eternally grateful!

Just the way I want to remember her!

Also hoping that is all you lost and your home is ok
and does anyone know if you can salvage somethings on the car after something like this?
Like the rotors, intake manifold those sorts of things?

Thanks guys, that storm really kicked our a$$e$. Everything around us was flooded with a wave of about 10-12ft or more at around midnight as it crested the bay. Homes flooded and moved off their foundations, everyone's car was totaled, the place looked like a giant lake.

This is the lagoon...you hardly see any pilings of the docks!

This was the next morning as the water receded around 8am...still about 3-4ft deep...at it's deepest it was over the roof of our old Blazer. The boat across the street almost floated away if not for the tie-downs in his concrete driveway used to prevent the boat from falling during a wind storm. Boats were all over the place like fallen matchsticks...on peoples lawns, on top of cars, crashed through other people's fences...the list goes on & on.

Believe me, there is NOTHING salvageable in my car as this was all salt water...instant rust everywhere after the water was gone. The rotors are frozen to the brake pads on almost all the cars, most are dragged onto the flatbeds to be towed away. Water up and over the console and the Nav/DVD player had water in the touch screen. The one thing I did manage to rescue (hopefully) was my Valentine One that was hard wired in next to the rear view mirror with the remote display mounted on top of the steering column. That's all I got out of it!

But at least we are all still here to tell the story!

Man that sucks. Truly feel for all of you guys out there.

Oh and on a bright note "IF" the V1 is done now is a great time to upgrade to one of the new Escort 9500 models. (i have both and the Escort hands the V1 its own a$$, the only thing the V1 has is arrows which are really more of a gimmick than anything)

Like i said. If you jump into another Acura we will be here.

Lube Man,

Sorry for your loss! Those pics of your neighborhood look awful! We had a hard blow 5 years ago with hurricane Ike which tore up Galveston, devastated that island which has come back ok now. I sat in my house, not on the coast, about 70 miles inland, through 90 MPH winds for hours, just lost fence on one side of the yard. I split the cost to replace with my neighbor. Had to have a tree guy go up and clean up my oaks, but they needed it anyway.

Flooding creates the big problems. Hope all goes well for you guys!

Thanks for all the prayers & wishes guys, it truly means a lot. We had a fantastic Thanksgiving as we revived our house with smells of cooking and lots of laughing...the alcohol definitely helped Our home is slowly getting back to normal, but a new normal...we still have a long way to go.

Here's what it looks like going down our local road....that stuff piled up is usually snow!

There are sink holes everywhere (they fill them with blue stone) and the mountains of debris from all the destruction are a daily reminder as they just get higher & higher by the hour.

If we can just find a car...prices are going up by the minute as the dealers are taking advantage of the situation. Used lots are springing up everywhere with cars from around the country....mostly junk.

But we're hanging in there!

Every day is a better day than the one before it...and that's what we were thankful for at the dinner table yesterday.
