Intakes
so i'm deciding weither to get a short ram or cai. I know that it cost more for a cai and i have to get a bypass valve, and a intake doesn't really add that much HP, but is basically there for the sound and looks. So i'm leaning towards a short ram, because it's cheaper, doen't need a bypass, still adds some HP, and makes a sweet sound. Anyone agree?

I just ordered the cai with by-pass valve. The by-pass valve is not a requirement but it is a good idea, even though i heard it will not work unless the filter is totally submerged.

so with a cai, there are too much complications. People tell that there is no need for a bypass valve, because my car isn't really low and some tell me that it rains alot here in seattle and i should get one, so a short ram seens to be the good choice.

Loving my 08 TLS!
Get the short ram! If you don't want the hassle of the cai and the bypass valve then the short ram is the best way too go. I had a short ram on my old accord and it was great.

you don't need a bypass valve.
if your car doesn't see floods, then it's not worth it.
unless you have the money to burn, if so, the sky's the limit.
like JT said, it won't pull in water unless it's all the way under water.

I would get the valve for piece of mind. It is better safe than sorry, and if you are going to drop the dough for the cai, then you might as well spend the extra 50 bucks and get the bypass valve.

We haven't had our TLS very long but I am interested in putting an induction system on it. I don't want to ask the same old newbie questions again so I looked in FAQ's (nothing there) so I did a search but came up with a ton of hits! Does anyone know of a single thread or two that outlines the differences and benefits/drawbacks between the short Ram and CAI with bypass?
