Question INTakes??

I just got H&R springs installed today and i am now looking to buy an intake for my car. I was thinkin AEM cold air intake, but i wanted to know which intake gave the car the greatest gain on the engine and plus how the Injen intake is compared to the AEM.
HELP ME OUT GUYS~please~~`:

AEM or Injen intakes both produce pretty much the same HP gain. But I think ppl with Injen intakes will say that it is less noisy than the AEM. IMO, the AEM intake noise doesn't bother me at all.

To tell you the truth it dont really matter which one you get. I got the Injen cuz it was cheaper........at the time it was the only one that came poished....it had colored hoses.....and in addition the overall pipe has less bends (2 vs AEM with 3...which is why it's quieter). But...to be completely honest if money isnt an issue and you wanted COMPLETE performance....I'd go with the Injen pipe...but toss out the filter and get...

K&N XStream® RX-3900-1 $61.25

I've been looking around for filter replacement and that by far is my favorite since it has a built in velocity stack like the injen and AEM but it's also tapered backwards and has more filter media up on top.

If you were a serious racer...I'd also rip out the fog lights and get the longer version (6.5 inch filter lenght vs 4.5) and you'll also get ram air straight into the filter head since the mouth of the Injen pipe is directly pointing to that emptied out foglight.

As everybody has said above, they are both identical in terms of increased power and noise. I've heard both intakes (I have AEM) and i wasnt able to hear any noise difference between the two. Here is what it looks like during installation:

I like the pics. If only the 3rd bend was tilted up higher then I guess it would look ok. The Injen pipe has only 2 bends and at the very end, the filter sits parallel to the ground allowing you to possibly put a larger filter later on.

Don't expect too much performance unless you got (or plan on) a bunch of mods (2-3 hp max). For a stock car all you really need to do is drop in a K&N or Comptech replacement filter and remove the back side of the baffle. I got the AEM CAI 'cuz I had one on my Integra GSR and LOVED the sound and it came in flat silver, I'm not a big fan of shiny silver sh!t and colored hoses and loom all over my engine compartment. I say just color match a few pieces and call it a day.

To each his own I guess. But what confuses me is that if everyone agrees that both of the CAI setup that is sold on this site gives little gains, then why not recommend the cheaper alternative. If we are going to nick pick about every little detail, then lets not forget that the cheaper alternative also has less bends in the pipe.

But yeah...I got it cuz I liked the sound too. (especially when you turn the engine off)

I have never heard anything bad about aem, but on the CL forum i have heard that the injen has been proven in dyno tests to take away power on rare occasions. Do your research over there and over here before you buy. I say stick with a polished aem for quality control purposes.

The only thing I've heard that robbed power was installing the bi-pass vavle. There was a post here not too long ago that AEM themselves said that the bi-pass vavle added further turbulence reducing power. Another thing to consider is that some of the older vavles leaked hot air in.

It's basically up to the installer to choose between added safety vs power.

You can use the bi-pass on any 3 inch pipe. It doesnt care what brand of pipe you put it on. If you want an example...look at Tim's car (the owner of this site). He has an Injen CAI with the AEM bi-pass valve. Why'd he choose the injen you ask? Well, read above.
