Thumbs up Installed my Comptech Exhaust!!!

picutures are here http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=2132271753

the Comptech Exhaust came in yesterday and i went for install right away in the afternoon

it was as gd as i expected, it has a little rust on the exhaust but doesn't really matter since it's in a very good shape, even the mechanic was surprised how cheap i bought for (300 shipped)

took half an hr to install and it fits perfectly, no leak!!! cost me 25 dollars to install

however the sound isn't as loud as i would expect, still too quiet for my taste, not even close to a BMW 330i

i still have all the resonators and if i remove them i might get the same sound as Kris' ride

i will stick with this for now and let's see how the Comptech Icebox would add to the exhaust note. It should be coming in soon

also i have made a video clip with the exhaust sound to share with u guys but but i dunno how to host it up, anybody teach me how? thanks

They are not rusted mate, just use Eagle one chrome wheel polish, rub it in good and then clean and buff it out, they will look new take my word for it.

Is that the resonator to the rigt in Picture 9?

Also, how hard was it to get the existing connections apart?

that is the cat, the guy said if i make a new pipe it would get me more flow and more hp. but i won't do it now and leave it til summer time

the mufflers were put on for only 2 months, i got a whole new set of exhaust after the accident in november, so it came off right away.

yup, like samkws said, thats the catalytic convertor. the resonator is closer to the driver's side front wheel. you take off the bumper and you'll see it right in front of the wheel well. go to http://www.abunchofcars.com/diy_page.../resonator.htm for the DIY of the resonator removal. im gonna be working on removing mine today!

samkws, where the hell did you get a deal like that for comptechs???? that is insane..

I might be missing something, but in those pictures, I see no exhaust resonators, or pre-mufflers... in other words your B-pipe seems straight thru, up to the Y pipe.... is that correct?

Because the resonator aaronnn is talking about is the intake resonator.... because per Sam's sig, he already have an Icebox (Cold air intake) this will mean he has no "intake resonator"... I just wanted to clarify

Kris removed both his intake and exhaust resonators, that's why it's so loud, but it would make a loud "HUM" at 60mph on hwy, which is not gd for long trip

mine has resonators on and it sounds very quiet still, not even as loud as the BMW 330i.

i will install the Comptech Icebox next week, it will make a little more noise.

i got a video sound clip but dunno where to host it up, or else i can show u

You can register --- [mod edit] --- and then you can host the vidoes sound slips and pics there yourself. They give a certain ammount of storage for free, it's enough for a bunch of pics and for a few videos. Look for the gallery section.. it's really straight foward once you get in to the process....choose to add a file... browse your computer for it... then add file.. They make it pretty user friendly..

thats why i got the quiet tip inserts! they are great, and work wonders!

remove teh factory resonator and try a different size from like magnaflow or something.! something that will not resonate as much. if you could get one that was HALF teh resonation ans teh large oem 1 it would be PERFECT

Don't worry about comptech icebox making noise. You won't hear a thing. Only thing you'll notice in terms of noise is the hissing sound when you turn off the car. There is no special sound/noise.
