only if u have chrome tips they would rust but of course u'd be putting on stainless steel ones like the 3As from this site which i'm about to order. u could spray WD-40 on em once in a while to protect them.

yeah JDub where'd u get those? looks nice. what are the dimensions? the 3As that i wanna order are 3.5' x 9"so they'll stick out from the bumper a bit which is what i want.

Thanks, they came from JC Whitney 2-3/4" Inlet, 3-1/2" Outlet, 8"L Overall Round Angle-cut Resonated Exhaust Tip. I was going to get the 3A's but I didn't want the tips sticking out too far so I went with the 8 inchers. Plus the 3A's are on backorder.

Installation

On the 3A tips, how do you install them? Is it a bolt just like the stock tips? or is there welding to do?

this is a side view of the 3As installed by EDub-tl...i think they look so much better than stock and they stick out a bit but not that much...that's why i'm curious to see a side profile with the JC Whitney tips.

side view of 3As

Will do this evening.

No welding with these. 3 bolts. The way the stock piece is designed is better though. It has a bracket welded on and uses only one bolt. The bracket makes the tip centered on the pipe. And the bolt just secures it there. With these other tips, you have to alternately tighten the bolts so that the tip stays centered.

I know we love to bother you but if you can get a further side view, so we can see the complete pipe, that would be great. In a way a pic that is from the bottom up, like the one you took of the side muffler without the pipe. Thanks so much.

yeah JDub if u could just get another shot a lil lower showing the whole pipe and how the tip fits over it, that'd be kool. the top view shot is good...looks like your tip is flush with your body kit, but i don't have one so i was wondering if it still would stick out a bit without one.

I've got BOTH the 3A tips and the JC Whitney ones and the JCW ones look better on a TL without the body kit. The 3A's are just a bit too long without the kit.

there was a recent post...topic was "Exhaust" and some1 had the JCWs (Pilots) and they rusted out on him during a winter. he switched to 3As and they've been fine so far...so i dunno which to choose...most around here with tips have the 3As.

Just installed these tips and I love them. The only thing I have problems with is that JC Whitney sent one tip with the PILOT name engraved on it and the other without it. I have the TLS with no spoiler kit and it is not flush with the bumper sticks out a little bit but still looks good. Will have pics soon. In a way the tips are somewhat flush since the corner of the bumper turns in. Also the TLS with no spoiler has a grove for the exhaust and these tips fit right on the grove, but if you look inside and see the stock muffler, you will notice that it is not centered, in fact it is facing toward the bottom of the tips. I am going to spray some black paing in there to see if it covers it a little bit and you cannot notice it as much. I will let everyone know as soon as I have the tips installed. Thanks again

can u see the muffler tips if you're like looking at it 5-10ft from behind or is it just up close? i ordered the 3A (on backorder) and those are 1" longer than the Pilots so i don't anticipate any problem. besides with the stock tips, u could see the muffler tips anyways. ppl will know that u have exhaust tips by looking at your stock black looking (rather than shiny stainless steel) muffler.

If the sun is hitting the back of your car, yes they will see the stock muffler. You are not seeing the stock muffler with the stock tips. When you remove the stock tips you will see that the extra lip that looks like the muffler is all part of the stock tip. The stock muffler hids behide this lip. As for the 3A, I think they will stick out too much if you do not have the spoiler kit.

Dee Diddy, do your stock muffler show if you stand from the back and look at the new tips? If so did you do anything to avoid this?

Do they center the exhaust pipe like the stock ones or do they move it to one side like the 3A's?

Off to one side, if I am not mistaken toward the inner side of the car.
