I believe the Inspire is the highest model. and the Saber is the lower model with two engines choices. 3.2 and 2.5. Maybe the Inspire is the Type S model. I dunno, I'm just guessing here. But I know for sure the Inspire is a higher model.

..just checked out the Japanese Honda site and from what I've seen, both Saber and Inspire base models come with cloth interior, 16x6.5 wheels, and a 2.5 L V6. The Type S for both come with leather, 17x6.5 wheels, and the 3.2 L V6.

Both INSPIRE/SABER has choice for 2.5 or 3.2 Type-S
Just cosmetic differences, like grille, tail lights, wheels, and badge on the back.

If you want the side marker lights?? be ready to cut holes in your front fenders?? If you have no problem with that I carry them on my site along with the "Honda of America" side emblems.

Do they come with instructions, specifically what cables to tap into?

Think about the cost of 2 new front fenders compared to having a body shop cut the holes for the light. The pics posted on the first page of this thread have pics of the sidemarker lights. To hook them up they have a harness and plug for $5 that runs down to the turn signals and tags into it.

grass is always greener on the other side :-)
i live in japan and have the '99 saber 3.2v (they call it "v" here not "TL"). i hate the side markers and wish i could get rid of them. they're stock yellow. going to "autobacs" (auto store) this weekend to see if i can pick up some clear's for the side. that "honda of america" badge blows too. so damn cheasy. that bade is on the shift lever too for the 3.2v's and 2.5v's but the type s has the special "type s" badge on the shift lever. i thought about removing it but wanted to preserve my car's resale value.
the other posts were pretty much right. the only three main things (besides the "inspire"/"saber" badge) different between the inspire and saber are the front grill, rims and tail light. i personally like the saber front grill and rims but prefer the stock clear taillight on the inspire. the shorter lettering was also a plus. besides, the old accords used to be called "inspires" here too so i wanted something that distinguished my car from an old accord.
the saber/inspire cars are NOT popular in japan. it's considered a third-tier car. people tend to opt for its competitors, especially nissan's 4-door skyline, toyota's mark II and chaser, and subaru's impressa (can u believe subaru's sell well here???? i think they look like **** but the impressa actually hauls some major ass). but i know better (as does everyone else here) that the inspire/saber rocks. i bought my '99 saber 3.2v used with 10,000 kilos (6,000 miles) out the door for 2.2 million yen (US$17k). no way in hell you can purchase any of the competitors with the same/similar features at that price.
unfortunately, because it's not a popular car in japan, not much aftermkt stuff for it. people don't buy inspires/sabers here in japan as enthusiast cars. buyers tend to be conservative, 30-40 yr. old company employees.

Really??? That's funny. Anyways, welcome to the club.
Maybe we should exchange some parts each other.

Really he is right!! The tl is not a hotbed if aftermarket parts. JUST 4 doors look what other options you have in Japan! :wow: Toyota, Nissan, Suburu, both make twin turbo 4 doors and RWD that run circles around out poor TL's. I'm hoping the low riders adapt our cars sometime. This is the only way to increase our parts availability. The market now has changed more towards vans no so there isn't much out to pick from. Look even Mugen didn't come out with any parts support for the Type-S. I was really surprised about that. The new TEG and vans.

well i think buy 2 new fenders is a good idea, for the fact that people screw up and that your fender at least if you can bring one from japan pre drilled it would be safer thats all.
