Is it important for the wheels to have centercaps?

When I got my '99 TL, I tradded all of my old tires + snow tires from another vehicle (since they wouldn't fit the TL) for four new steel wheels to use on the TL. I use these steel wheels for my winter tires. They aren't the black steel wheels + hubs, they are simply regular 5-spoke rims not requiring hubs...actually, they sort of look like the Type-S rims.... However, the centre part of the wheel is simply a hole so it will fit onto the car --- no centercap/"A"cura symbol to cover the hole/exposed part once the tire is on.

I'm wondering if it's important to get a centercap to cover/help protect that nut/bolt/whatever-it-is that sticks through the hole in the centre of the rotor....I wish I knew the exact name of that part -- you can see it in Kris' picture of his new rotors with the tires off. It is already rusted and the tire guy claims condensation will get under there anyway - regardless of if it's covered with a small cap. I don't even know if the OEM cap would fit these aftermarket steelwheels. If the OEM cap doesn't fit, do you know where I would have a selection of caps that might? I'm don't even know which brand wheels they are since we literally just swapped parts.

oh no - i don't particularly care of the centercaps are OEM "A"... they could be a plain circle, for all i care... in fact, i'm not even sure if they would fit these wheels since they aren't acura rims.. not sure if the diametre is different.. and the steelwheels aren't as glossy as stock wheels anyway - so wouldn't look right... i just want to protect whatever hardware i can if it'll make a difference -- especially in the winter...

I'm assuming the center caps are for cosmetic reasons. They are cheap though. Check on e-bay and do a search for "Acura center caps." You can pick up a set of 4 of the "A" ones for the 99-01 TLs for about $25 bucks plus shipping.
