Question I'm tired of bumper cracking... Aftermarket Bumper Choices

Are there any rubber aftermarket bumper covers for a 2000 tl?

Does anyone have a better pic of this Skipper bumper?

I love my bumper, but to be honest... It is very FRAGILE being that it is 3 pieces molded together... If you don't want it to crack... you need to have one solid bumper cover and a seam where the front lip kit is installed...

Molding looks pretty, but it's not so functional or flexible I should say...

Discount tire hit my front end and cracked my bumper after they put my new wheels on So they are giving me good money with the claim and I'm trying to finda a one piece that is similar to the look of mine...

Here are a few of the others... but I don't know what is avail to me or how much they are...

Mugen kit below

Bud kit below

Sarona kit below

Again, are these fiber glass? I want to have polyurethane (rubber/plastic) if possible...

My choices are to get mine fixed and wait till the next time someone cracks it... or get a one piece with some flex in it...

Why is that sarona bumper even an option?

The Blaze kit (which you called the Bud kit) is made of fiberglass. Not sure about the others. It may be expensive but maybe your best bet is to try to get a JDM front end with the fog lights? The Mugen, Blaze, etc. kits are rare and expensive so the JDM front bumper may be an easier and cheaper option.

can someone please tell me how he converted that 02-03 bumper on? because i didnt know you can convert it with using the same headlights, hood, grill.

hope its not too much custom work.

btw for the skp kit, thats a lip only and the bumper is a JDM bumper.

He molded the top half of his original bumper to the bottom half of the 02-03 bumper with some extra fitment steps.

Even the Mugen? Also, just to clarify again, the JDM front bumper is I'm guessing polyurethane just like the US OEM bumper.

get rid of it and put on the bumper that goes on your car with the front lip. raise it back up. if its still to low for you then sell your lip kit to one of the guys here. problem solved

I thought of that... but you have to do the modifications to that bumper as well for fog lights...

I can't find the JDM bumper cover... I've looked at several sites... all I find is the Spyder cover...

JDM Bumper or value bumper? WTF why is this so difficult to get a straight answer?

the one above is on memoryfab and labeled the value cover

This bumper cover below is nice and if I could get the OEM lip and be done with it : )

or I have 1500 to spend if I wanted to do a real 02-03 conversion... I would have to see how much the parts would cost all together for the lights/hood/bumper/lip and whatever else I need lol seriously

on mine they overlapped the two bumpers... 99-01 on top and then used some kind of bondo flex to smooth the seam out between the upper and lower half (02-03 bumper cover). Then they molded the lower factory lip kit to the factory 02-03 bumper to erase that seam.... It really looks good and I love it... but that bondo has no flex and you really don't want to put it on thick like that or have fun going back to spend $$$ everytime you barely get touched or if it has to flex over the years.

I might just do the whole conversion if possible... I have $1500 to work with... so I might just buy the 02-03 head lamps/ bumper cover / hood and whatever else I need.

I can use my fog housings / Hid kit, switch, wiring/ Lip kit.... and just buy the parts I need for the conversion... then I'm done yippie!

or

buy the JDM bumper / fog housings/ lip for that cover.... hmmm

The JDM is expensive, so I mght just do the conversion and then my car will look newer as well with the 02-03 head lamps, grill, and hood

meh they used bondo and bondo flex doesn't flex much. they're supposed to use polyflex, but again u did mold it which like u said a thicker layer means easier to crack.

i say you just get bud, jdm, or value kit

You're misunderstanding me... I don't want fiber glass at all

People are saying that the JDM bumper is not fiber glass... I can only go by what others say because I'm not in the business...

My bumper cracks because it has two molded seams on 3 pieces... The custom shops are charging about 1500 - 1700 to fix it either way... so if I get the insurance check in hand, I might do the conversion and have a 1 piece 02-03' stock bumper with the 02-03' lip installed and I would be set... I don't like my old stock bumper.. no offense but F That idea

Then I could get the 02-03 tail lights and give my baby another face lift

My uncle owns a junkyard... I'm going to see tomorrow if he's got a 0203' TL back there or if someone's parting out the pieces I need to change to make this conversion

If your uncle doesn't have an TL lying around in his junkyard there always this site to find parts. Just hope the car was rear ended and not hit from the front.

thanks : )

that's a great site... I pm'd the two other people to see exactly what kind of a parts list I need... but haven't heard anything yet...

I think it's good to know that if someone does hit you that you might be able to make this conversion if you like...
