I'm thinking about selling my type s....

I might want to get rid of my 2002 TL type s w/ nav. The buyout on the lease right now is around $27,500. The car has low mileage, about 13,000 for more than a year and a half usage. Its got a few things in it like hyperwhite fogs and xm radio. Do you think I can get that price for it or is it too high? Someone please give me their opinion. Thanks guys.

rominl came the closest, about 27k, but it does depend on location. in cali, the value is about 27k in my estimate.

Thanks

I think most of you are on point. I guess it pretty much all depends on who wants it and how badly. I'm in NYC but I was thinking about putting it on EBAY. I can always put a reserve on it so there's no risk there. Thanks for the info.

I also am in NY and tried to sell my 02 TLS with 33k about 2 months ago on Ebay and various other internet sites. The best i was offered was $21,000. I was trying to get $23,500 and had no luck. Good luck with yours. If you find more than 1 buyer let me know.

33k ouch!!!!!!!! Thats the killer since by the model year, technically your car is only 1 year old and has over 33k on the clock. It may have been purchased almost 2 years ago, but as far as records are concerned, its a 2002 with 33k on the clock, and its only 2003 right now.

The only part that sux about buying a car ahead of time is the extra depreciation you take with the mileage if you want to sell it. My 2k2 was bought in March of 2k1. With 24k on the clock, thats way more than the standard mileage for a years worth of driving regardless of the fact that I am now at the 19 month mark of ownership. i try to drive the other cars when Im traveliing locally to the store etc, but I just love driving this car, its so hard to do.

Mr. Hyde
33k is alot and that has been the reason for the low offers. I bought the car in July of 2001. About 4 months ago I decided to do what you are doing with another vehicle - so i bought an older CL and put the TLS in storage. Since i have put about 300 miles on the TLS and 7000 miles on the CL.
Thanks for your input.

I agree with those who said that you'll probably get around $27k or so.

Part out the mods and sell them seperately and you'll make more $$ then if you include them.

Sorry to bring back such an old thread, but I'm thinking about selling my Type-S as well.

It's currently go 22K miles on it and is 1.5 years old. I have absolutely no mods on it. The engine and drivetrain are in excellent condition, but there are cosmetic blemishes on the exterior.

There are three or four minor dings along the sides and one abrasion on the hood, about the size of a silver dollar. The worst blemishes, however, are three scrapes on the rear bumper caused by a garage door incident and a scratch on the pass-side rear view mirror housing. Both blemishes scratch to the primer, the bumper ones being the worst. The bumper scratches have been painted in, but are still noticeable.

I checked with KBB with the car classified under "Good" condition. It returned a private-sell value of $24,125. Given that I live in South Orange County, does this sound about right to you guys?
