I'm Stuck -to get rims or not to get-
I don't know what to do, get rims or not. I want the Loweharts LD1s chrome, 18x8 or 18x7.5 For brand new the price is a little over 3K. Now, the problem is...I'll need to get new tires, springs, shocks, and camber kit so that everything is perfect.
That comes out to about 5K. Should I go for it or not?
As far as springs and camber kit...it will be comptech and shocks will most likely be Koni. The cheapest price I found was $2500 on 18x7.5
If I do this, it will be done in spring. Any advice?

I read somewhere that if you drop your car then get a camber kit otherwise your tires will be gone. I'm no a genuis when it come to suspension and wheels so I may not know a lot of stuff.
Also I live in New York where potholes and crappy roads are common everywhere you turn.
....just read up that with comptech springs I don't need a camber kit. My problem is that I don't know exactly what the camber kit does.

no need for the camber kit with the comptechs. what it does is adjust the angle that the tires sit on, side to side. if you drop you're car real low, the camber can get out of whack, and youll basically be riding on the inside corner of your tires, causing uneven wear. the comptechs shouldnt cause that problem.
even so, your still looking at like $4500, its a big chunk of change.
thats why im holding off on rims. this car doesnt look right on 18's or 19's without being lowered.

In my case, the rims are the most expensive. I can get the shocks and springs from Tim. Tires I don't know much about except that I want sport tires that can handle well in the rain (better than the our stock). I saw some LD1 Chrome on Ebay for 1.5K a while ago

Well, I needed to get a camber kit for the H&R Sports drop, which is pretty close to the Comptech. It's very slightly off on the rear wheels... so I decided to be safe and to get the kit....
If money is an issue I'd drop it first... then get the rims after the winter or something.....

Should I be aware of anything else concerning tire wear?
Thanks for all the info, perhaps this can also help those that don't know much about the complex topic
