Idle Speed Control

Well, my 99 TL will be ready with a new transmission tomorrow. The service tech called me and also notified me of a broken engine mount and a bad idle speed control. The engine mount, which I told him to go ahead and replace, will cost $190 (parts and labor incl.).
I told him not to replace the idle speed control valve mainly because it costs $280 and I thought maybe I could clean it? What should I do about the idle control -- has anyone had this prb before?

Thanks for the input.

As far as I know if IAC valve went bad, you just replace it giving if that was the root of problem. Do some search on "idle air control valve" you will find many useful info. If it was EGR then you can clean that; fsttyms1 has good writeup on it. good luck.
