Idle Control Valve - Symptoms related?
In February 2004, I had my 2000 TL at the dealer. I had them do a routine service plus check out a few items... my warranty was about to expire. One of the items I asked them to check was for a rough idle when I came to a stop. When I came to stop, at times, the car would idle down, shake and then the idle would pick back up. I thought the car was going to stall. They said they could not recreate the problem and the car was 'operating as designed' at the time (that's their favorite line at Honda/Acura). Well, the problem continued for many months.
Then, I recently had my car in this April, 2005. I was reporting a problem with the power fluctuating when driving at a constant speed (around 35-40 mph) and I was hearing a vibration/grinding when the car shifted the first few times each day. I ended up with a new transmission. Plus, they found the that the idle control valve was bad. They replaced the valve at my cost.
Much to my surprise, my idling down at stop signs went away. After researching what the idle control vavle does and what the symptoms are for a faulty Idle Control Valve, I contacted the dealer to see if the problem in Feb 2004 could have been the Idle Control Valve. They claimed not, but it seems likely to me.
Any comments?

that was probably yourt problem back then too. but if it wasnt acting up or throwing a code there is no way they could have known it was bad
