No but it's hard to shine when a smaller engine can push a heavier car faster. Even the TL-P beats the i35 to 60 by .3 seconds. Let's not even talk about the glare from the 3.2 Type S! It seems like it's an insult for a 3.5 to get killed by a 3.2. Glad it's not me...
Here we go again My car faster than yours... yadyadyad by .0001001 sec. even my TL-P...blah...blahblah...blah...blahblah

I'm pretty sure there are a couple of TL-S folk that would disagree with you on that. Lets not turn this into a "My car is better than yours" tread that's boring. There are people in this forum that are having a TL/CL/Maxima meet don't insult a potential guest. Peace

Sorry if I came across like flaming. I actually like the Infiniti products, I just LOVE the Acura. Both are great engines, you have to admit though, the 3.2 TL-S is a jewel. It is awesome to make MORE horsepower with LESS displacement. That isn't a condemnation of the Infiniti, it's a praise for the TL-S. Welcome.

The SAME 3.5L engine is in the New 350Z and makes 280HP+
And how come the 3.2 engine has never made the Ward 10 best engines list?

Not too shabby, the 3.5 in the Z nearly makes as much HP as the 3.2 in the NSX has for a while! Only 10 down with 300 extra ccs they're getting there, congrats. Glad you brought it up.

Ward who? Seriously here are some other "Winners"

GM 3.8L supercharged 90-degree OHV V-6

Jeep Jeep 4.7L SOHC V-8

Ford 3.9L DOHC V-8

No offense but which of these seem even average to you much less outstanding? Your turn.

Not to hijack this thread back towards it original direction, but I heard the I35 commercial on the radio this morning and noticed two things:

The comparison is based on "horsepower" (and not torque, as was previously theorized) and, the key figure, was based on comparison with cars in Ward's Lower Luxury Class for 2001. As we all know, there was no TL-S in [model year] 2001 and therefore no 260hp engine. So if they want to compare the 2002 I35 to 2001 competitors, as they do in the commercial, then they're right.

I think those marketing ploys are for people who who NOTHING about cars. The _______ has the most hp in the class. Honestly who really cares? NONE of these cars are race cars, so why promote HP. How about features and quality etc, the reason people buy these cars?

1. None of those engines are current winners and at the time that they were selected I am sure they were among the best in the industry, Just because their in crappy cars (Ford, GM) doesn’t mean their not good engines

2. I pretty sure the engine in the jeep is a lot better than the one in the Isuzu Rod.... er I mean Honda passport

3. If you divide the NSX by the 350Z you get about (88,100/35,000) you get about 2.5; multiply that by 280 and whala! I have made up your 10 extra horses.

4. The NSX engine Does not make 290HP until it reaches about 7100 on the tach, I wonder how much horsepower it is making at about 5800 RPM's when the 350Z is making 280HP In addition the 350Z has a Sh1tload more torque (260+ VS. 224)

5. But hold up I not insane, the NSX is a WAY better car don’t get it twisted but it is an exotic nonetheless and should be compared with a Skyline GTR or something
