I want my TL to be equivelent to TLS
Ok I am a noob TL owner of a 2003 TL. I always wanted the TLS 5-speed but it was just too hard to come by so I ate my pride and bought the 2003 TL. I am very happy with the car it is so comfortable and still awesome performance. I want to start modding the car to get the TLS performance, headers, intake, ect... all the goods to give me the extra HP. Do any of you have suggestions. I cant go crazy on spending money but I would like to see a much closer performance to the tls. Thanks in advance

I'm a thrill seeker in my
I'd go for the pulleys before some of those other mods you mentioned...
Adding a UR underdrive pulley will add 12-14 real hp to your car. Anyone who has bolted one of these on loves it.
Great feel in the low to mid range with the most noticeable gains in the VTEC range (5000+ rpm). It's also not that expensive.
Here's the pulley from our vender excelerate: http://store.excelerateperformance.c...257&Make=ACURA
Here's the belts you'd need when changing the pulley:
http://store.excelerateperformance.c.../i-222220.aspx
With TL's most guys will say go the I/H/P route which means do the intake first, then headers, then the pulley.
I'd suggest leaving the exhaust for last, because on our cars the exhaust is already quite free flowing (maybe this is only on the type-s, correct me if I'm wrong).
Therefore you will not see much in terms of gains from a cat back exhaust unless it's the ATLP exhaust.

A good exhaust will cost a pretty penny and give the least power per dollar vs those other mods. And please whatever you do no 20 dollar ebay fireball exhaust

Three Wheelin'
Yep do cold air intake, headers and a crank pulley, that will get you close to 260 hp. For looks get the TL-S wheels and lower it an inch or two with coil overs ad you're all set.

if moneys tight
1. intake
2. headers (xs headers)
3. UR crank pulley
4. Spacers and gaskets
(that should get you pretty close to a type s)
(these are the most expensive, with least HP gains)
5. exhaust
6. plenums
(with this a type s will be childsplay lol)
7. supercharger

or of course you can remove stuff. trunk liner, subs, back seats lol. a 3rd gen member did it, along with a LOT of other stuff, and he achieve a better weight:hp than he would with a comptech SC. i dont know how well it really performs but he says it picks up much much better, tire wear is way less and brakes are way better
