I think i might have been F**ked

i was about to go onto the freeway today but i stopped at my friend's local car shop. he was checking out my hid fogs and then he noticed that my front tire was having a tread separation. the sidewall was caving in and there was a big bubble forming on the side wall. he said Sh*t its gonna blow any minute now. the thing is that i hit this MAJOR pothole yesterday but didn't think there would be damage. it was major. he said that it wasn't going to be like running flat, if i had taken it to 70 mph it would have blown and lost control.

im looking for quieter tires than the re730. Toyos or Nittos?

Go to a site like Tirerack.com and read the customer comments about the tires. Most people will comment if they are quiet or not.

Maybe you can get it replaced under warranty? If theres no rim damage then you might be able to claim you had a defective tire that failed under normal wear.

bobatimez,

I believe your tire should be under Acura warranty. Our tires are under the "road hazards" warranty. Check it out and keep your money for christmas gifts

I would think hard about tha kumhos...These are so damn cheap and majority of the drivers are cheap ass cars who give a 8-10, but I read about 4 people's remarks with Acura CL-S's and they all gave between a 4-5 out of ten...Nothing is gonna stick like T1-S....I mean you could go all out and get the pilot sports or avs sport, but the t1-s is still a better tire in my opinion because you get tread life plus mad stick...I really dont know anyone witht the kumho's, but the cliche' "you get what you pay for" came up more than once...That doesnt mean i wouldnt buy them, because they are cheap and they gotta perform better than nittos...Shyne

Most place comments within the first several months of ownership, which during this time most tires are nice and quiet. Just like those RE730...quiet in the beginning but gets friggin loud as they wear down. The Toyo T1-S' I'm rolling on are much quieter than the stock Michelins and they provide outstanding wet and dry traction. 9k miles on them and they are still quiet!

Shyne and Lawai have my endorsement. i got a full set of toyo t1-s under a toyo 500 mile trial program. i fit a 225/45/17 on my cls rims. wow. as far as i can tell, smooth, softer, whisper quiet, really good traction. my only problem is i think the side wall is too thick. i went with a 45 but it think i might need to go back to the 215/45.

can u guys tell me what low profile side wall config i can go with to stay near stock? how bout 225/40/17? thank u for the input and nice to know you all care that im alive...

BOTTOM LINE: VERY VERY GOOD TIRES that look DAMN GOOD

Glad to hear you went with tha toyo t1-S...Now tell me boba, how in the hell did you get a 500 mile trial program??? Do you have the option to buy at the end of 500, or you gonna try a new tire??? One thing that definately stands out about toyo, is that the t1-s is a high performance tire just like the pilot or avs sports but the tread life is longer...The tread pattern makes any car look bad ass...Good choice...Shyne

Congrats Boba! I don't think you'll be disappointed. As for the size that closely mates with the stock rolling diameter, I've chosen the 215/50-17. If you want to go a bit wider 235/45-17 would be the next closest match. I was going 235's but changed my mind at the last minute.
