I need to VENT - dealer hell

I got my 03 TL-S three weeks ago - I picked it up at night and when I got it home in the garage there was bad acid rain damage on the clear coat (trunk, roof, hood). Called my salesman the next day and he told me to bring it in monday @ 9:00 A.M.(trip #1). He then tells me to bring it back the next day (trip #2) so they detail shop can fix it. He calls me that afternoon (after them having it 6 hours) to tell me they finsihed the trunk and wanted me too look at it to see if I would be happy. I told them to just do the rest and I would look at it then. He calls me back to tell me that they are going to have someone else look at it and keep it over night. I tell him I can take it to a detailer and get it done myself and they agree to pay. The detailer tells me that he would have to wet sand to get them out (worse then he originally thought) and told me it would be better to let the dealer handle it. In the meantime my driver side head light goes out intermitantly and I get weird satic noises from my CD changer. Soooo. I call my salesman again and explain all of this to him, he tells me to make a service appointment and they will take care of that and the paint damage.

TRIP#3 - Service tells me they have to order two parts and I can pick up my car. I ask him about the paint. He has no idea what I am talking about. He talks to my salesman and calls me back to tell me that they will coordinate the parts installation and my paint work "sometime next week.'

I am majorly p*ssed. Three trips to the friggen dealer and not one damn thing is repaired - and I have had the car all of three weeks.

The only thing that I can tell you since they are willing to repair it (God only knows when) is that you have to wait, I know it sucks but for now you're gonna have to, but if and whenever they take it and is not fix to your satisfaction, then you can talk to Acura managers and maybe even BBB, I know some companies don't even want to hear BBB. Gook luck keep us posted.

Daam, Im sorry man, sometimes you wish these things had a 30 day return policy. Hopefully they'll get it all straightened out for ya.

Next time you go talk to the manager.

I agree with NY tell them your going to complain to BBB and they will got on the ball then. Companies dont want to hear from BBB...

really?

I find the BBB to be pretty much worthless. I did have to do that once with a dealer back in Columbus Ohio - all that happened was I wrote my side, they responded ---- blah blah blah...

I was told once a while back to ask for the Zone Manager's name and number to complain.

I'm tempted to call Acura CS but ...

I had to do that too one time with Chrysler and dealer...you know what? The Manager of the dealership called me and yelled at me for doing that....Customer Service is dead

Groebuck: If some service manager did that too me I would go there during a prime hour and make a scene during business hours. The worse they can do is call the cops and escort me out. Not to mention another call to the CS Dept again for his attitude and behavior.

Oh

I let him have it - this was not a service manager it was THE manager of the dealership - I very calmly explained to him how customer service worked, what happened, what they did wrong and how the ONLY call I got from them regarding my car (all other 10 times I had to call to find out what was going on)...was for him to call me up and yell at me.

He calmed down and said "well I guess there was fault on both sides," and I asked him to tell me what I did wrong other than to report horrible service to corporate and buy my car from them .

He didn't have an answer for that one.

Who is your dealer in NC? Tell them that you will drive down to Hendrick Acura in Charlotte. They will take care of you there. I agree get the BBB involved. A dealer makes all of their money on service so the biggest threat you can give is to take your car elsewhere.

I got the same problem right now with my tl-s.... same exact marks.. almost same exact places... I have 1 on trunk, 2 on hood, and about 2-3 on the roof of the car... Car is at the dealer (been there since monday) so far they have replaced all of my pads and rotors (because of vibration in braking) I was also feeling some sluggishness in low speeds kind of like a small jerk from the car in the 20-40 mph range.... They say they found nothing wrong.

As far as the paint is concerned... Got a call this morning that a Acura rep. has to come in and look at the spots cause nothing they have can get them out. If the have to repaint the whole car, It will take at least 1 WEEK. Also I have yet to recieve my Plates??? WTF I have had the car 4 Weeks(this week makes 4) and no one knows where my plates have disappeared to. And my temperary plates expired on Monday.. the 15th:wow: ......

I have more

than 1 or 2 whole hood, roof and trunk is spotted (like a dalmation!)

they tried to detail the trunk and while better you can still see all of them ..some look lik craters

Don' you mean that you haven't gotten your Memorandum Title so you can go to the DMV and GET your plates??

I wish the car came with a 30 day warranty. I would have thrown it back in their faces so fast, their heads would have been spinning.

I can never buy another acura.

Bad CS is the worst, esp. if it comes from the dealer you bought the car from.

No I mean I haven't got my plates. they told me they would take care of everything. they gave me temporary plates in the interm. See this is the situation I bought the car in NYC but I have a Virginia liscence and the car was to be registered and insured in VA (to my new address moving out of NYC) so they told me they can do it. so I paid them the DMV fees and took the temporary plate. thinking I would have my Virginia Plates within a week....... Well I still don't have them 4 Weeks and counting

How I get robbed? If they can't do it then they will give me my money back for the DMV fees and i will do it myself.. thats all... I only bought the car from them and not in VA cause they were offering me the car at invoice... VA salesmen didn't want to match it.. Not sure how I got robbed

Its Offical a NEW PAINT JOB is in order... Taking it back to the dealer for a new paint job. Still no plates though, dealer claims it has something to do with DMV in VA not releasing the plates or some sh*t like that ... whatever, Any tickets because of it... THE DEALERS PAYING !!!!

Yes sirre Bob...... the whole car to be re-painted in a couple of weeks. They had to wait for an Acura rep to come in and take a look at it and then they gave them the go ahead to repaint it..... And I WILL NOT BE CHARGED..... plus I will get a loaner for the time my car is being painted

then I know what to tell them I want - if an acura rep will okay repainting the whole car for a few acid rain spots - I should get it for the 101 dalmation dance on my clear coat !!

p.s did you have it on the whole car or hood/trunk/roof?

mine is hood/trunk/roof but it is really bad.. (I would say on average the trunk has 20-30 damage spots that are crater like, roof upwards of 40-50 and hood > 50). I want to push for a full repaint.

50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:wow: ... they should give you a new car not just repaint it.. I only had like 5-6 spots... 2 on Hood, 2-3 on roof and 1-2 on the trunk..... If I were you I would want nothing less than a paint job.

My dealer tried to blame it on what i used to wash the car, or where I parked it as a reason Y I had the spots. So just to let you know they may ask this. If they haven't already. I any case let them know that is what you want, And if you have that many spots then that should be the only alternative

the day after I took the car - read my first post about how many times I have been back such......

they can't blame me - I had it back at the dealer day three

Soooo.

Today it is offically one week and one day since I had my car at the dealer last when they told me the parts were on order and they would arrange for me to bring it in, have the acura rep look at the paint and replace my headlight and stereo.

I have not heard one peep from them (granted Isabelle blew through here thrusday - but the Service manager told me the parts were coming from Georgia and it would not affect delivery).

I was told two or three days to set it all up...

when should I reach pissed point?

Keep getting on them about the parts. I needed a new shifter gate bezel fro mine and they tried ot tell me that UPS screwed up and sent it to the wrong place. I HIGHLY doubt that's what happened. I think somebody is either waiting for a minimum $$ amount (some times required) to place the order or some bonehead just plain forgot to do it.

:wow: .. dude still no word yet at this rate mine will be finished and yours will still be without parts and yours went in before mine. If I were you (if you had the time) I would park right in front of the deealer and just sit there until someone did something to accomodate my problems

My black Type S was outside one time in the rain last year. It rained very lightly and then the sun came right out. Needless to say, I got acid rain craters all over the trunk and hood. The roof was spared for some reason as was the spoiler. When I took it to the dealer, they said they would have to wet sand or repaint. Since wet sanding removes most of the clear coat....and what little protection this cheap crap offers the color coat, I declined. They also offered to repaint, which I declined because it would never look as good as the factory finish, even with the spots. As a peace offer, they gave me a Comptech exhaust system, installed for free. I know this doesn't make up for bad paint, but I figured that it was better than nothing. My car looks great...nice and shiny, but those spots are horrible and every time I look at them it makes me sick at the quality of the paint on this car. I have a 12 year old Honda DelSol, and it sits out in the rain all the time and doesn't have any acid rain spots or any other marks on the paint. I don't know what Acura is doing with their paint, but it sucks. I love this car, but I hate the paint. This car is never driven in the rain, sits in the garage most of the time, and is covered when inside....and still I have swirl marks, spots and scratches all thru the paint....IT SUCKS!!! I'd sell it and buy something else, but there is just nothing out there that I like for anywhere near the price of the Acura....a M3 or M5 is just too expensive...and the new ones are FUGLY!!!!!

well mine is a lease

So I have that going for me - I turn it in so I won't have to deal with it - I called my salesman who never called me back but the service guy did call me - that 2-3 days he told me it would take when I picked up my car last time has turned into (maybe tomorrow if we get them checked in)...

No word on what they are going to do on the paint.....

Friday and still no word

from my dealer/service - Car was taken in tuesday the 16th when they told me they had to order the parts....10 days later....no word.

There is no way it takes 10 days+ to get a part from anywhere in the country to your dealer. This definitley deserves another call to corporate.

NOW I HAVE

To top everything off I am approaching my first month of leasing and I have not receive any paper work, what have you, about payments, where to send them, my account #, nada, zip.

I called AHF and they have NO RECORD of me by name or social. I called the finance manager at the dealership but she was on the phone so I left her a voice mail, telling her the same and it was urgent as I don't want to suddenly be late on my payments.


It's 4:45 and I have not heard from the Finance Manager, Service regarding my parts, or anything about my paint damage. I've been to the dealer 5 times now and NOTHING has gotten done about anything...


so I called Acura CS, Filed a complaint. The CS rep told me a case manager would look at it and get back to me within two to three days....we shall see.

Man I thought my dealership was bad. Your S#it sucks. Only thing I haven't gotten ( and still waiting Week5 now) is my plates. And I call and call and no one seems to know. But you all you have is the car.... and with Acura having no record of you being an owner
that is crazy:wow: You've had the car for like 4 weeks now right?
Hearing this makes you not want to Own an Acura

Nobody knows

I am still waiting for someone to get back to me ... granted I called Acura on Friday so they have until tuesday then I call again...nothing else I can do I guess.

poor Customer Service is grounds for a lawsuit - I am sorry to say that although I love the car I will probably never buy an acura again...and definately never deal with a Hendrick Automotive Group dealer ..EVER!

Two weeks today since I was told parts would be ordered, three days since I called Acura CS. No call from the dealer still, called Acura CS today and they told me they were still investigating, should get a call tomorrow.

Still no idea on who to send my payments to, no account info, nothing and Honda Financial still has no record of me, One month today since I took posession of my car....

depression sinks in slowly...
