I love this site but damn, servers are slow! Alarm question
Any computer I'm on, this thing takes forever to load pages. I just hope that means there are more of us but dang, it is slow for sure. I have a few question about the keyless entry.
I have the remote for the keyless entry. Does our cars have an option of a factory alarm or is it just keyless entry?
I know on the S2000s, you cant jack the car because you need the chip on the key, am I assuming we have that as well? I own an 02 TLS.
Final question. When my doors are unlocked, within a minute or so, it will automatically lock by itself. I dont like this at all, is there a way to disable it? I'm afraid one day working on my car and I leave the keys to get something, it would lock me out.
If you anybody could answer one if not all, that would be cool.
thanks

your 02 has an immobilizer chip in the key as well, just like the s2000 so don't get it wet! i noticed that my doors used to lock themselves but it hasnt happened in over a year, i dont know the cause for this but hopefully someone else has the answer

The mods are working on the databases, so please be patient..I've been a member here on Acurazine since 2003 and the site is very reliable and I have never had any issues until recently. But, I asked one of the mods and they are working on it...even running slower than normal, this is still one of the best sites on net, at least for me it is! I have no life lol

An 02 does that hummm my 01 doesnt
here is the owner book link- free- click year then TL, move the icon over Index- click and look up anything you want- can download part or all or just access when needed
https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/...01_OMANUAL.asp
The TL has trick ABS- traction control you need to read up on- and even the seat heat has operational limits and procedures
Its a basic alarm but its something- if concerned, get a Viper or similar setup with remote engine start too!
- the Lock button on top of remote locks the doors and sets the alarm- a 2nd press of that button gets a chirp and flash of the parking lights-also the red light on the door blinks confirming the alarm is on to anyone watching you - with crime on their mind...click it a few times - YES!!! its got an alarm!!! move along now....
The key has a chip too- thats what the green key sybol on the dash is about

Re-locking doors
I've got an 02 TLS also. When you unlock the doors with the remote, if you don't open a door within about a minute, it relocks itself. So if you opened the door to put the keys inside, it won't relock itself. SHOULD BE foolproof....right?

Its an actual alarm if a window is broken or the locked door opened without key or remote- as if someone was reaching in an open window and popping the lock open

That's right. You press unlock button once, the driver side door is unlocked (unless you change the setting to all doors unlock when you press the first time), and you open driver side door. The alarm is cancelled once you open it.
Or you press the unlock button twice, and all doors are unlocked. You open any door and the alarm is cancelled. No need to stick the key into the ignition.
Read your manual (if you got it) or read it online here. You'll find lots of things that you never thought of before. Then enjoy your car.

I have a related question.
If I get the beep and the flashed parking lights but the red LED in the door doesn't blink, is my alarm still activated? I would assume that it's just the LED burned out but I've been curious since the day I bought the car, and never had the wherewithall to ask. :P

i think its actually 30 sec tho, if you unlock using remote and the doors are not opened within that time, it will relock

The horn doesnt beep, but there is a tone made on teh 2nd lock. If it beeps then the system should be armed

Well yes you're right its not the horn, its that second horn-like thing my 99 has. Not as loud or the same tone as the horn. But when ever my trunk hood or door is open it won't honk. It won't even honk unless my drivers door lock makes it to the locked postion. These are just the things my OEM alarm did on my 99, **results may vary lol

One thing about that chirp you get to confirm the alarm is activated. I was at the dealer one day and asked about the chirp. At times I find the sound a little low , as when you activate when a car is passing you might not hear the chirp to good , was told that the sound could not be adjusted up.
