Just posted this at acura-tsx.com
Okay, I’ve been lurking for a while and this is my first post! I contribute the the Acura-TL.com site quite often, but it appears this is the place for TL news, so here you go. I had to join today to post this news.
I actually saw the 2004 TL today, in Seattle!
I was travelling west on I-90 from Bellevue, WA to Seattle (on the I-90 bridge) and way in front I saw it. At very first glance I really thought it was a VW Jetta, really (it was satin silver and very far away). But I quickly picked up on the rectangular tailpipes! But it just couldn’t be could it? An actual new TL in Seattle?! But it was.
I floored it and got a really good view of the back. The car had California tags and one guy driving it. I swung around to get a side view, but it was difficult on a crowded highway--and he was really cruising. But when I got up close there was the “TL” badging on the back. When I got a glance at the side I couldn’t believe how beautiful this was (OMG!!!!!! This is like the best combo of an Audi A4 and a TSX, with a few very subtle hints of the current TL-S).
I really wanted to get a view of the front.
I finally passed him and swung in front of him, but he was VERY aware that I was “hawking” him ( I was very obvious, especially driving my silver 03 TL-S) and quickly took an exit into downtown Seattle (this is when we had veered onto interstate 5 going through the city.) BUT I did get a quick glimpse of the front and it is striking too.
I was excited because I have never really seen a pre-production car like this. And what the hell was he doing in Seattle? He had CA tags and it was definitely the new TL.
Based on looks alone, I can tell you a few things:
It will absolutely blow away the G35, 3 and 5 series and other competitors! If it is priced right. The car is the BOMB! It is absolutely beautiful and even the pics of the concept TL do not do it justice. Excluding the NSX, this is by far the best looking car (not sedan) I have ever seen from American Honda! I’m telling you, this car is something and will be Acura’s ticket.
It looked way smaller than current TL, very close in looks to TSX, but much sportier, very hunkered down, big, beautiful fender flairs, and striking wheels (they looked 17 in, but could have been 18). The wheel gap was nil. In the front the headlight cluster looked smaller than the TSX, but sharp! I couldn’t see if they were all projector or what and I couldn’t really make out fog lights.
Now, I wonder how much they will give me for my 03 TL-S?

I have put my life on hold waiting to see if the car will have ventilated seats and brembo brakes.
