i just beat a rx-7...!!!
it was a 2nd gen w/1.3 rotary non-turbo...
mods:
bonez intake
act clutch
and i dont know what type of exhaust....but he wanted to race and see how bad a beating he'd take
here's the scoop:
i accidentally launced about 1/2 second late the first time....thought i wouldnt catch up...blew past him...!!!
second time around, i tried ss, but it didnt make a difference...still beat him..just a by a little more since i launched a little better...(he races all the time and likes to hit the strip at baytown)
it was fun...hope to find some action tonight...ya'll reply

I once raced against the most recent RX-7 and he did not win. Race was from 70mph or so. It started when I was catching up to him (I was just cruising on a highway). When I was 100 feet or so behind, I saw a puff of smoke from his exhaust and he started accelerating. I slapped my autostick to downshift and started accelerating too. We went beyond 120mph and he could not get away from me. I could not gain on him but he could not increase the gap. So in my opinion we tied.
Oh yeah that was before I had my TL-S, I was driving my 99 300M.

if it's a non turbo one, don't bother to post it...it's old and crap (80s model)
the turbo one is lightening fast and my friend did it with a max speed 280kmh!!! that's 170 mph!!! coz of it's light weight...very light and it has a close ratio manual
